Windows 10: Creating a Local admin account

I have a personal laptop that I got new mid way through school and during setting up that laptop I used my school's email for the Microsoft account.I am graduating soon and that email will be deactivated. How do I disconnect my school account and setup a new admin account that is not attached to a Microsoft account?I am using windows 11 pro

Local account installation question

I'm fairly certain that Skip this step was available in 10.0.130 - the workaround in Step 20 (back button) is no longer required.

The currently known, as of 10.0.130, ways to create a Local account sign-in are

• Skip this step at the MS account creation phase
• No Internet connection during the install
• static IP (post# 2 by Fragment) - New (to me anyway)

 

Local Account Admin

Hi. I wonder about something. When I installed windows I created my local account as an admin and i have been using only that (only account on this pc) account all this time. Now im questioning if its the right thing to do regarding security. Does everyone create another account but that has no admin rights and use that instead? Is it normal to use local account as admin or is it best practice to create another local account without admin rights besides local admin you created when starting windows (not the built in admin im not talking about that one, that one is disabled) A lot of programs wants to have admin rights to start, how can i use my local account without admin rights if that's so? Windows 10 Pro X64 Ver 19045.2193

Ideally, if you are using a Local account on the computer and if it’s the only account, it will be an admin account. To check if the account is an admin account, please refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows key + R, to open
   Run dialog box.
   
2. Type netplwiz and click on
   OK.
   
3. You will find all the user accounts on the computer and if you see Administrator beside your account, the account is an admin account.
   

If you want to change the name of the user account that you are using, you need to create a new user account on the computer. Please follow the steps mentioned in the article

Create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10. Once you create a new user account, follow the steps from the section
Copy files to the new user profile in the article
Fix a corrupted user profile to move the data from the old account to the new account.



Note: The above mentioned article is for Windows 7. However, holds good for Windows 10.
