    Creating and using template documents


    I'm a programmer coming back to Windows 11 from Linux after 2 years. And I have gotten used one particular feature that is extremely useful but seems to either be completely absent from Windows or is completely obscured from regular users because its hard to get working when it really shouldn't be.I create a lot of files and I would like to be able to create new files from the "new" context menu in windows explorer based on templates. I would like to create my own files with arbitrary text in them, such as a python file with some boilerplate imports; and then create them from a context menu

    can't open document created using a Microsoft template

    I created a document yesterday using a Microsoft Business letter template. I saved the document but I have done everything to open it and can't. I had to do a search on my pc to find it and it tells me that the shortcut has been moved or changed. How can
    I open this document?

    Word templates

    I am using Microsoft 365.(Win 10) I use word a lot. This morning I opened Word and I usually see along the top several templates. Blank, and then single space and a few others. All gone except for Blank document

    What happened?

    Any suggestions?

    How do I create a custom template?
