Windows 10: Creating Exceptions for Specific File Types/formats in DEP?

Hello! I am running Windows 10, 64 bit, Home Edition. It is currently up to date. For the last several months I have had to shut off the DEP because it kept disabling certain graphics filters for my graphics program PSP - Paint Shop Pro. This keeps tripping up a "we have found...." message each time my anti-virus runs a scan. Is there a way - and if so, how - to add a file type to the exceptions list in DEP? I know you can add programs however the filters - of which I have a lot, over 100 - aren't in a program i.e. .exe format, t

Hi William,

Since a specific application is giving you Exception access violation error, we suggest that you try to add that application to Data Execution Prevention exceptions list. See steps below:

• On the Search box, type Control Panel and choose Control Panel from the list of results.
• Click on System and Security, then select System.
• On the left pane, click on Advanced system settings.
• Select on the Advanced tab .
• Under Performance, click on the Settings button.
• Go to Data Execution Prevention tab.
• If DEP is turned on for you, click the Add button.
• Locate the .exe file of the program you wish to run.
• After you’ve added that program to the DEP exclusion list, click Apply and
  OK to save the changes.
• Restart the computer and try running the application again.

Run CMD


1. diskpart
2. list disk

Then in the 3º step, put the correct number of disk in the list for the usb flash (if it's listed in disk 3, then you'll have to write select disk 3).

2. select disk #
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

with that commands you will format the flash drive in fat32, if you have a large drive you can select also "format fs=ntfs" in step 7.

i can't access DEP

Hi Demuul,

To enable the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) in Windows 10, follow the steps below:

• Open elevated Command Prompt by pressing the Windows key + X, and then click on
  Command Prompt (Admin).
• In Command Prompt, type the command below, and then press Enter:
  
  bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOn

Should you want to disable DEP, enter bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff
in elevated Command Prompt.
