    Creating-Renaming Network Folders - Explorer Crashes - Reboot Needed?


    I have an issue that whenever I create a new folder or try to rename an existing folder in a network directory, the folder window I am in will crash and I have to close the window by clicking the red X in the upper right of the folder window. Whenever this happens, Windows Explorer will crash and then restart. I am hopeful MS fixes this at some point, but for now my question is a follows.

    Whenever this happens (Windows Explorer crashes and restarts), do I need close all my open programs and restart my computer or is it enough that Explorer restarted on it's own?

    Explorer Not Responding on File Rename

    When I create two or more new folders in Explorer (and leave their names to be "New Folder", "New Folder2", etc) they are created correctly. When I then rename them, the first one renames correctly. Then, with the following folders, either Explorer hangs
    for about 30 seconds before the second folder is renamed or it crashes immediately, leaving the new folder2 with the name "New Folder2".

    Explorer.com on Windows 10 crashes and restarts when I try to create a new folder.

    Updated AMD driver, rebooted and it still crashes.

    GOOD NEWS, 繁花 solution worked!

    I renamed \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\...\ShellNew to ...\ShellNewOld, rebooted and the right click to create folders no longer crashes explorer. I have not tried it inside of programs yet.

    Question, I know enough about the system registry to be dangerous. What are the possible system issues I might experience by renaming the key? Is there another way I should modify this to prevent instability?
