Creative Sound Blaster x Fi Extreme Music failure after clean install

Mine Dimension 9200 was with no problem in sound after the Win 10 upgrade from Win 7.

After two days this afternoon I did a clean install of the Win 10 from a USB (created from Windows media).
Following this my Creative Sound Blaster X Fi Extreme Music -failed no sound on my speakers.

I could hear sound when I plug in headphones in the front of my desktop computer's ear phone pin.

I could not go back to Win 7 . I put in my Win 7 (Win 7 upgrade install Disk) tried to re-install my Win 7 and that is not possible either.

Can anyone suggest a method to either get my Sound Blaster Speakers work or return back to Win 7?
Do I need to install P965 chipset for Win 10 clean install?

    Reagrds

    :)

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi + Windows fall creators update = Task bar does not work

Looks that this problem is common for Creative Sound Blaster not only X5, or X-Fi. I've found a lot of reports, but some things are same in all descriptions (Creative Sound blaster, Fall update, Task bar does not work ).

I've not found any solution, except rollback to previous update Creative Sound Blaster x Fi Extreme Music failure after clean install :(

Windows 10 S/PDIF sound output not working properly

My Windows 10 S/PDIF 2-channel PCM output not working(e.g. no sound when playing WMA audio and MP3 on media player and watching Youtube thru browser), but DTS, AC3 output is ok.

Anyone got the same problem like this? I use Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi PCI sound card for coaxial S/PDIF output. And have checked system default output is the S/PDIF port which on Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi PCI sound card.

I was having the same issue with my X-Fi Titanium. I could get it to work, but would lose audio on a reboot. These drivers seem to be working ok so far:

Thanks for the link. I will try later in the day.
Is yours for a desk top computer?
Mine is a desk top Dell Dimension 9200 /XPS410 computer that came with Sound later X Fi Extreme music card preinstalled .
I understand there is a difference between desktop & a laptop drivers? Am I correct in my assumption?
    Regards

Yes, it's a desktop. Generally, yes, vendors release separate drivers for desktop and mobile. Typically, discrete Sound Blaster audio controllers are found in desktops. There may be some high end gaming laptops that have them, though.

Creative is supposed to release official drivers in October for the X-Fi. The drivers baked into Windows 10 are definitely lacking.

    Hello dirge6,
I am totally surprised this evening.
Turned on my desk top to follow some of the suggestion I learnt from your link but
I noticed my computer installed the following on it's own:
WU KB3074678 & KB3074686 on the back ground.
Also I noticed in my Device Manager "Broadcom Bluetooth 3.0 USB with a yellow exclamation mark.

No wonder my Bluetooth wireless keyboard not communicating but the wireless Logitech M510 functional.
The next was surprise when I clicked on the speaker sign on the bottom right with my mouse I could hear the sound
    Very pleasantly surprised-weird.

I was not too worried about the wireless keyboard because I had this happened I when (2 days ago) migrated to Win 10 from Win 7 through upgrade. Went to the device manager and uninstalled marked with yellow exclamation mark-Bluetooth 3.0 USB along with driver, restarted my computer and paired my keyboard to Dell's Bluetooth usb key.
Following this I was able to type to reach Logitech site to search for Logitech's set point 6.67 Win10 x64 driver-
Installed and paired my Keyboard .

Device manager has no yellow warning on any devices..

I hope I am not premature in celebrating but felt share this information with you as you may decipher what is going on..
    Regards

That's great it's working. For me at least, on a clean install on Windows10 it was losing audio across reboots. Sometimes it would work, sometimes not. If you notice the same problem, try the drivers I linked and see if it helps.

  9. Ive had issues with my sound blaster x-fi titanium sound card as well. Ive tried to unintall and then reinstall the 3.3 support pack; but now i only get faint crackling sound from 1 speaker; when i really have a 5.1 surround setup for my pc. when the heck is creative gonna get up off their duff and fix this issue for windows 10!

  10. oddly enough; I just once again uninstalled the 3.3 support pack; then reinstalled the 3.4 pack; and now my surround audio is working; even the "enhancements" of my card where you click on settings and you can customize the sounds prefs is working. Now how long it will remain working is anyones guess at this point; but for now it seems to be working. It seems that whenever I reboot the system; it sometimes does mess things up and then the sound becomes mono and the surround goes bye bye and i have to mess with uninstalling and reinstalling several times to get it to work again.

  11. Of note, I as well have an X-FI Extreme Gamer, and what i found works thus far, the Support Pack 3.4, but on bootup i have no sound. Its easily fixed by opening the Creative Control Panel, and switching modes to say Entertainment, then Back to Gamer. (As soon as you switch it, you hear the card come alive, so its apparently some wake up kick in the ass thing). Once i do that i have perfect sound in everythnig and full control as i did in Win7. Creative is working on a driver pack for Win X, but thanks to Daniel K and his amazing work as always.

It's a conspiracy. I think they're trying to get us all to switch to motherboard audio.
