Windows 10: Creator

Dell is not supporting my Dell XPS 8300 drivers. Does this mean I have to perform the update ultimately and that likely I will have issues?
The machine came with Windows 7 but I am running Windows 10.
Is this the end or do I have any options?

Audio intermittently cuts in and out: centered around voices.

I have a set of PX22 Turtle Beach headphones that I like to use with my PC. Unfortunately, at random, somewhere along the line anything but voices are cut out of the audio. This is particularly annoying in games, where I might miss a bit of speech, an audio
cue or something similar. I believe the problem to revolve around the fact that there is a constant background hum in my office-where I have my PC-that comes from a number of servers located there, and the mic may be picking up on that.

Is there anything that I can do to fix this problem? Are there any advanced options that might allow it to ignore the background noise?

 

Any solution for creators update mouse lag?

also I am on Fall creators and with one of the Nvidia drivers and Fall creators and Creators Update made the mouse feel floaty and not quite accurate...

I thought Creators might be better solution to roll back but..... I see problems lel

 

Hi, it is quite common to have machines running later OS's than the OD builds for which manufacturers list compatible drivers.

Manufacturers produce lists of PCs verified to support Win 10.

Regardless of this, people update to later OS's than the manufacturer guarantees. Many work well. Others run into a variety of problems, some less obvious than others.

In some cases that means using an older version of drivers than MS provides, and 'hiding' the update (Tutorial section) so the driver is not replaced.

Some find that their PC seems fine with, say, the Anniversary build, but when they updated to the CU, driver differences cause problems.

For example, my old HP laptop which came with Vista ran Win 8 well - and Win 10, when booting normally. But in Safe Mode it got very hot. Why? most probably low level driver incompatibility.

Basically, it it works, great. If it doesn't, you either need to experiment and hope you're lucky, or you need to stay with an earlier OS.

You can also do research - search for your PC model and "Windows 10" and see if people are reporting problems or not.

We never recommend the routine use of driver scanner programs. I've been round that one with someone recently who became convinced different driver scanners gave different results and couldn't be relied on. And that's been discussed on several past threads. Search the forum.

Question: you say your PC is running Win 10. Is your question simply speculative? Or do you have a particular problem?

 

Because my desktop is one listed as one of those whose drivers are not supported by Dell, and because it says to update your drivers before Creator, I was trying to do so.

 

I do not recommend the use of driver scanners. You have to be sure that they are finding the right drivers for your device. Often they do not.

10 is pretty good at finding drivers and installing them via Windows Update.

As always, we recommend you create (or update if already using) a disk image before any major change to your system.

There is a risk you could end up with an unbootable system when undertaking major (and in your case unapproved, strictly speaking) change. Macrium Reflect (free) is good.

 

Good advice.I have used Macrium for years without a failure really depend upon it. My low skill limit necessitates a good imaging program.
I will be making an image of this a.m.'s updates and others until and including creator.

 

My laptop is not on Toshiba's 'supported for 10' list either. When first upgraded to 10 at launch it retained Conexant audio drivers, but over time windows update has replaced them with the generic Microsoft High Definition Audio Device which works just fine.
