  1. Creators Update - Account Problem

    Since Microsoft 'creators update' about a week ago I have been getting the following message pop up daily;

    Microsoft account problem
We need to fix your Microsoft account before you can use shared experiences. Select this message to open settings to fix things.

The issue is when I click on it brings up a box with one of my gmail addresses (presumably that I attached to Microsoft account way back) and it wants my password in order to sign in and 'fix'. But it doesn't recognise my password, so I went through forgot password option and it sends code so I can change password which I did twice, and then it doesn't recognise new password. I went into Microsoft manage account options and turned off auto synch etc, but that doesn't help. Yesterday I managed to sign in to the account via Microsoft manage account options with my original google password and reluctantly clicked 'allow' and it still popped up again today.

Thing is I don't think I use any 'shared experiences', I just do (different) gmail through firefox browser, but I really want to stop this daily pop-up. Thought about just deleting the account but I don't know if that will create other issues. Anyway they're permanently bugging me to fix an issue I don't really care about, and no amount of acquiescing to their request seems to satisfy them.

Would be very grateful for any advice.

    :)

  2. p2ms Win User

Windows 10 explorer.exe memory error on shutdown

I created a new account. And this way solved the problem until I disabled Cortana.

But the major update (Creators update) solved the problem on both the old and new accounts.

  3. Windows10 "Sync Your Settings" not working with a Local Active Directory Account

This works before creators Update. I have several machines, which are connected to a Windows Server 2016 Essentials and before Creators Update it works fine.

I have a new Surface Pro with Creators Update already preinstalled. When I use a lokal account, I could sync my Settings. But at the moment of using an Domain Account (doesn't matter if using Essentials Connector msi or just add the computer to domain) the
sync settings button is grayed out.

On other computers running Creators Update which is installed using Windows-Update the Sync-Buttons are still available and the Sync works fine.

I tried different gpo settings, but did not find a solution for this problem.

  5. Thank you, I appreciate reply and links.

Yes, could be a bug. After reading through that Mircosoft community thread I followed techs initial instructions to the guy, and noticed, unlike him, in my settings my share setting was turned to on. So I turned off and restarted. I'll monitor and hope that sorts the situation.

  7. Hi Brink,

    Thanks for reply and links.

I'd tried the steps detailed in the first link yesterday and was hopeful, but unfortunately the message popped up again today. I don't seem to have the bluetooth setting detailed in the second link. My layout in Start> Settings is a bit different than shown on their screenshots but I hunted around and couldn't find it.

Anyway the plot thickens a bit.

Basically, I have two Gmail accounts. One is my main account which as mentioned in the OP, I just use via firefox, it's auto-signed-in, no frills, no sharing etc. My second gmail account is one I don't really use, and it's the one I might give to Microsoft when they're insisting for whatever reason. It's also the one that is named in the Microsoft popup which comes up and wants a password. As I mentioned I tried the password I had which didn't work, so I chose the 'forgot password' option in the box, subsequently received a code and reset it but unfortunately it then didn't recognise the freshly reset password either.

But the thing is, I just noticed the message that subsequently comes through to that 2nd gmail account confirming the password has just been changed actually refers to my primary G mail account. If I go into Microsoft accounts (via Start> Manage your account > email and app accounts) that primary Gmail account isn't even listed.

So Microsoft popup comes up each day listing 2nd account, I go through change password procedure, and I get confirmation come through that my primary gmail account password has been changed, an account which is not listed as a Microsoft account, and one that I really don't want them getting involved with.

    It's all very odd.

  8. Creators Update - Account Problem

Just to report back that I seem to have sorted the issue.

As mentioned the account in question was a gmail account and when I went through the change password option I got a confirmation that it had changed the password to a different gmail account that isn't even listed in Windows settings. I tried to login to the account in question (i.e. the one that was listed in the daily popup box, which was actually listed in settings) via the Microsoft account login webpage, and it said 'account not recognised', which was weird. So anyway I removed that account via, Settings > Accounts > Email & App accounts and that stopped the popups. The account was synched with the Windows email app, but as it wasn't my main email account and I tended to access it via browser anyway, it was no biggie to remove it from settings. Not sure I'm any the wiser about the whole affair but at least it's sorted!

    Thanks again guys.
