    Creators Update - Do I have it or Not?


    I thought it installed yesterday as my laptop went through a fairly lengthly install process. The update history says feature update to Windows 10, version 1703 was installed.

    But when I go to system information, it says I have Windows 10 Pro 10.0.15063, Build 15063.

    So I am not sure which version I have. How can I tell definitely?

    Creators Update - Do I have it or Not?

    1703 is the creators update version number. It obviously didn't install? Try again!
    Go to your system info. It should be there.

    OK, so I checked again and now I am really confused; WinVer says 1703, System Info says 15063. So anyone think it installed or not? Thanks.

    The build number is not the version number. The version number is really just the date of release, year/month, 1703. The build number is the internal number that MS uses to keep track of, well, builds. Various cumulative updates and such within a release/version (e.g., Creators Update) will bump the decimal part of the build number.

    Meanwhile, entirely new builds are being compiled and sent to Insiders for testing (and internal testing). Towards the end of the dev cycle, one of these will be deemed suitable for the next version - to be called, in a fit of creativity, The Fall Creators Update.

    Oh cool, I never knew that actually, and I'm disappointed in myself for not being able to have figured it out on my own! So whenever I want to pretty much know when the update has been released, I just look at the version number as: YYMM

    (Y = single digit for year and, M = single digit for month)
