    Talking about this new icon

If you do right click->open there, it's about

which I *don't* want' turned on.

The usual old way from the "Notifications & actions" screen does *not* exist anymore.

Furthermore, on the "Change Action Center settings" screen, the relevant part may be grayed out! (and the Security Center service is even on)

  2. How can I get rid of this mandatory new piece of **** email process and getr back to plain old outlook?

    Hi Pea,

    Welcome Microsoft Community.

We understand how you feel when things would not work as expected.

Before we proceed, I need more information to help you better.

    1. How are you accessing your outlook mail? Are you using Outlook.com or office outlook?

    2. What exactly happens when you access mail? Do you see any error?

If the issues are concern with outlook office, app the issue you posted would be better suited in the MS office Forums; we would recommend posting your query in the office Forums for further assistance.

How can I get rid of this mandatory new piece of **** email process and getr back to plain old outlook?

Outlook seems impossible to get to simply. Why is this such an ordeal?

I also want to add another account to my outlook - again an unnecessary ordeal.

We pay a lot of extra money and are limited by some one else's idea of good idea which is basically a bunch of ****.

^ Got it. It was the Task Manager -> Start Up Windows Defender icon. It was re-enabled on its own after this system-wide update of "Creators Update", and it's also kinda counter-intuitive since this is not called the Windows Defender icon anymore but a general "Actions Recommended".

Or at least I think that's what did it. I don't think I changed anything else relevant before it disappeared.

It's not uncommon for settings to be restore back to default after a new build update.

I see this as well and in my case its because of a sleep setting and a missing driver for a fingerprint reader.

I noticed yesterday that the icon had turned green (reported as all OK) and so I open action centre and it was reported there as well that 'no actions needed'. This morning and its back to yellow again.

I wonder if there is some odd reset issue at work (by design) in that the icon clears to green after so many days to reassure the user. After all it is a non critical error. When you investigate things it resets to yellow again.

Is that plausible or daft *Smile

I wonder why mine went back to yellow when I peeked the other day. I'm going to leave it and not open the Security Centre and see what happens.
