    Credential Guard Causes Issue With Secure Boot


    I have ~100 PCs on my network, all Dell Optiplexes running Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC. I recently swapped out ~30 of them with new Optiplex 7010s. Each of the new PCs would hang up on the Dell Logo screen on the first reboot after joining the domain. I narrowed the issue down to a GPO that enables Credential Guard. I also found that disabling Secure Boot allows the PCs to boot. I elected to leave Secure Boot enabled and disabled Credential Guard on the new PCs. However, I would like to have both enabled, as is the case with the other PCs on my network. Has anyone run into the same issue? Any i

    Glad to be able to receive your detailed clarification on the issue.



    From what you have shared, I understand that multiple computers of yours have experienced Credential Guard not working properly after the BIOS update.



    You mentioned that LsaIso.exe is still running normally, which is not directly related to whether Credential Guard is enabled or not, and whether LsaIso.exe is running or not is not the basis of whether Credential Guard is enabled or not.



    You also mentioned that Credential Guard is no longer running in System Information, does this mean that System Information - Virtualization-based Security is turned off?



    Did you try to turn on Credential Guard after you realized it was no longer running? There are three ways to turn on Credential Guard: intune, group policy, and registry.

    VMware Workstation can be run after disabling Device/Credential Guard

    Windows Sandbox cannot be enabled on Windows 10 Home. The workaround you most likely used, does not even work, and has never actually worked. However, when you attempted to enable Windows Sandbox, it also enabled Credential Guard and Device Guard.

    The first thing you need to backup any critical files you cannot live without. Depending on the state of your system you might decide it's time to simply reinstall Windows 10 Home. An alternative is to upgrade to Windows 10 Professional so you can Enable Windows Sandbox then disable it properly. The following suggestion was written against an assumption that Windows Sandbox was properly enabled and not left in a broken state due to a workaround solution on Windows 10 Home.
