  1. Credential Manager credentials keep popping up after I've removed them.

So I was trying to play Halo Infinite a month back and I downloaded it on the Xbox app. There is a known glitch with the game where when you try to sign in, it puts you in a sign in loop and you cannot log into the game. The Waypoint, the Halo support forum, suggested that I delete all the credentials necessary to log into the game by opening credential manager and deleting all of the Xbox Live Credentials. I did as they suggested and the game worked fine. Fast-forward to yesterday, when I was trying to open the Halo Infinite app again but I got stuck in the sign-in loop again. I was confused

  2. Credential manager - Web Credentials

For quite some time now I have been troubleshooting this issue, but can not find any solution to it yet.

Registry changes nor GPO setting help to solve this issue.

    So, what I am experiencing.

I am running my laptop on Windows 10 Insider latest build with Edge Chromium.

I have disabled the IE feature from the platform.

Now, within the credential manager you have two tabs "Web" and "Windows" credentials.

My issue is with the web credentials.

Nothing that I do seem to get rid off these credentials.

When using the IE option cpl and remove these cred. I can see them latterly being remove from the vault directory where they are stored. Opening the credential manger also confirms that.

But the second , hours or days later when the "credential manager" service is restarted, they pop back into the list and on file.

First I thought this might be an cloud storage backup from which they are downloaded, but even with the Wi-Fi off restarting the credential manager service brings then back.

Procmon does not show me where they are being copied from, but just that they are being restored or placed on the filesystem.

Where the heck are these credentials stored and how do I remove these?

On the other hand the "Windows credentials" have no issue. Removed is Removed.

Ps. Not sure if this is the right group to post in. Your help is must appreciated.

  3. credential manager

    Hi,

Credential Manager allows the user to view and remove saved credentials for applications, web pages and networks. If your computer has been compromised, we suggest that you remove all information from the Credential Manager for security purposes.

Feel free to post back if you have other concern.

    Managing Credentials with no password

    Hi Steeboo,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.
We understand how you feel about the situation. We're sorry for the trouble this has caused.

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

    1) Press Windows key + r and type services.msc.

    2) Right click Credential manager and Go to Properties.

    3) Select Manual from the Startup type drop down menu.

    4) Click Apply and OK.

    5) Restart your computer and check the issue.

If the issue still persists, I suggest you to delete the web credentials and then, try to add it again and check, if it helps.

In the Credential Manager, under Web Credentials remove the web credentials and check, if it works.

Hope the above information helps. Reply with necessary information and the result to help you further.

    Thank you.
