Credential Manager Repeatedly asks for "fix"

What was thought to be an Outlook issue repeatedly asking for passwords upon login, turns out to be a Credential Manager... I think.
4 of 6 MS Techs have logged in a looked at the issue- same suggestions, same tests, no different results.
    2 techs gave same advice.
    Have tried
    in Outlook
New profile, changing password in registry delete key and let it repopulate
changed password on server Ionos and matched it in Outlook
    Reinstall Office 365
    In Credential Manager
    Deleted credentials to Outlook

Problem is after restart, get error message says problem with Office 365 account have to fix.
I click the Fix button, update the password and all is happy again.

Anyone know how to fix this once and for all?

    :)

    Asking for Network Credentials

Sounds like a 'persistence' issue, i.e. A has the credentials to access B 'stored' with the 'persistent' flag set but B doesn't have the credentials to access A stored persistently (or it's corrupted), hence the request.

    Try:

    1. Open Credential Manager (in B's Control Panel, i.e. Start > Search > control > Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Credential Manager).
    2. Open Windows Credentials (on the right-hand side).
    3. Search for (and remove) any credential for A (in case it's corrupt).
    4. Use Add a Windows credential to add a new network access credential for A (by entering the network address [e.g. computername], Username and Password then click on the OK button.
If all goes well, when this completes you can open the credential and should see Persistence: Enterprise mentioned underneath the Password field:

    Credential Manager

Since the issue persist, we recommend this time to fix Credential Manager service. If in case that the Startup type is set to manual, we need to change it to Automatic. To do this, we recommend that you follow these steps:

    • Press Windows Key + R key to open the Run dialog box, type
      services.msc
, then press Enter or click on OK.
    • Look for Credential Manager, then double-click it.
    • In the Startup type section there is a drop-down list, set it to
Automatic, then click Apply and OK
      to apply the changes.
    • In addition, to restart this services you can click the Stop
and Start button under Service status

Please post back if you need further assistance.

    Windows Network Credentials

    Hi Keith,

We suggest that you disable Credential Manager before mapping your Drives. Please follow these steps to disable Credential Manager:

    • In the search box type “Services
    • Right click on “Services” and select “Run as Administrator
    • In the Services Window, look for Credential Manager Service and click “Stop”.
    • Restart the computer and go back the Credential Manager Service and set it to “Automatic”.
    • Restart the computer again.

Please keep us updated if you were able to map your drives.
