Windows 10: Credential Manager UI Host will not accept my Windows PIN

I cannot access the Windows Store. When I go to Settings, Accounts, Your Info, it says I need to verify my identity. When I click Verify, it asks for my Windows PIN. I enter the PIN, which works fine when I’m logging in to Windows, and it just asks for the PIN again. I have tried the SFC and DISM suggestions I’ve found online, but the problem remains. I cannot close the Credential Manager UI Host, even with Task Manager. When I open the Get Help app, and try to message a Windows Advisor, I get the same Credential Manager screen and it will not take my PIN. I have tried the suggestions I have found under Credential Manager PIN.

RDP Credential Manager: Delay in accepting credentials

Credential Manager PIN

Hi Deepika ...

I was/am a member of the administrators group ... that's pretty well the first thing I set when I install Windows. I confirmed this using your suggestions and indeed that is the case today as always.

The PIN works fine when logging into the _machine_; it is just the Credential Manager that now always wants me to log in using my Windows live account password. (My machine is always logged in to live to use onedrive and save settings). I have also tried
deleting then recreating the PIN. This does not change the issue.

Windows Network Credentials

Hi Keith,

We suggest that you disable Credential Manager before mapping your Drives. Please follow these steps to disable Credential Manager:

• In the search box type “Services”
• Right click on “Services” and select “Run as Administrator”
• In the Services Window, look for Credential Manager Service and click “Stop”.
• Restart the computer and go back the Credential Manager Service and set it to “Automatic”.
• Restart the computer again.

Please keep us updated if you were able to map your drives.
