    My MS Surface Book has stopped allowing me to sign in with facial recognition and the PIN. I am still able to sign in using my password, which I changed after being unable to sign in. The facial recognition recognizes me, but advises that "credentials could not be verified" and I have to sign in with the password.


    Looking for some help on how to get this corrected. My computer is updated, I've restarted it, shut it down and started it back up...beyond that I have no technical skill with figuring this out.

    verify credentials asked after startup

    I will post in office forum but want to clarify first. This occurs when I have no office documents open so is it still an Office issue to post in their forum? But OneDrive is automatically on when I start.

    No two step verification is not on. I sign in / out many times a day from desktop/laptop and didn't want two step every time. From your comment I think if my device is trusted I don't have to two-step verify each time?

    MOST importantly the "verify" option is not available or I don't know where it is. Because the window that opens when asked to verify credentials doesn't have that option (see my original question/comments).

    Hi Keith,

    We suggest that you disable Credential Manager before mapping your Drives. Please follow these steps to disable Credential Manager:

    • In the search box type “Services
    • Right click on “Services” and select “Run as Administrator
    • In the Services Window, look for Credential Manager Service and click “Stop”.
    • Restart the computer and go back the Credential Manager Service and set it to “Automatic”.
    • Restart the computer again.

    Please keep us updated if you were able to map your drives.
