Windows 10: critical error volmgr 161 crashes my PC

so i've had this error for a while now, dont know exactly why or when it started, the only thing i know is it usually happens after playing demanding games . A month ago i decided to reinstall windows and it stopped happening... until now. Decided to run the Windows memory diagnostic, everything was ok. Also decided to run the driver verifier, which upon restart, it gave me 3 BSOD saying "DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION". As it stopped after reinstalling windows, i assume it is a driver issue rather than a hardware-related issue, but I can't seem to find what is exactly causing this. Things

Critical Process Died BSOD (BugCheck 239/159) + VolmGr 161 error

I did my usual BSOD dirty fix: re-seating the RAM and boot drive. Turns out my boot drive has one physically defective sector and I should probably replace it ASAP (even though it's only 2 years old). This has been the cause of almost 700 BSODs under different error codes: WHEA hardware, critical_process_died, unexpected_store_exception. I'm still getting crashes from system hang, but at least those give proper minidumps instead of volmgr 161 errors.

 

Windows keeps crashing (Volmgr event 161)

Hello everyone,

Since a few days I have a lot of issues with my Windows 10 PC. When I'm using my PC it randomly restarts out of nowhere. I get no warning and I don't do heavy tasks when the error occurs. I don't think that there is a consistency either. For example I just
got it 3 times in 15 - 20 minutes when surfing the web. But earlier today I was gaming (Battlefield V, so quite a heavy game) for 1.5 hours without a problem at all. The temperate of the CPU was under 60*C the whole time and the GPU reached 70*C at its top.

When I go to the event viewer I see a critical error (Windows restarted without cleaning it correcly) which is a logical error because it just shuts down from nowhere. And just before that I get: Volmgr with event 161. I can't find a log that goes into more
details.

Is this a known issue or does someone know why this happens and what I can try? Is it possible that I can fix this with a factory reset?

volmgr error

after i disabled page files i have volmgr errors and i guess a short freeze or 2 to desktop. should i enable it again or the error will go away ?
