  1. Critical Process Died BSOD after updated to latest build

Being the update freak that I am, I clicked on update and restart before realizing that I had not opted out of the non-required updates or whatever it's called on my new laptop. I don't think it's a beta build but it's not the core/base build all my other devices are on either. Any way, I can't check anymore, because the moment it boots into the lock screen (when it boots at all), it will hard lock, black screen w/ only cursor, then blue screen and tell me a critical process died. When I do get enough time to get to the desktop, I'll try to open settings or run an sfc scan and it will always hard lock. Seems to be related to explorer? Simply because I will click on the task bar or try to clear my notifications and it will beachball, then crash.

The current situation is the following:

9 times out of 10 the laptop boots straight into BIOS, not acknowledging that the boot ssd (CCritical Process Died BSOD after updated to latest build :) is present, only the storage drive (DCritical Process Died BSOD after updated to latest build :) appears.

In the unlikely event it does boot windows, 7 times out of 8 it freezes before I can unlock it. When I do get to the desktop, it will freeze the moment I do anything.

The BSOD is always the same: critical_process_died

No error code, no details, nothing.

Device is a Gigabyte Aero 15X - 8750H, 1070MQ, 32GB RAM with 1.5TB of ssd storage - Not that it really matters since the only thing that changed from it BSODing and not is the windows build Critical Process Died BSOD after updated to latest build :)

When I am able to get into recovery, I want to go back to the previous version. Why won't it let me do that? Tells me it can't roll back. Why bother including this option if it doesn't work? In fact, it has never worked for me. I understand that the other options require me to actively do something like keep a backup but the description of this option is to do it if a program is acting up.

Due to how new it is, no backups have been made (approx 12 days of use) - my personal backups occur once every 2 weeks and company backups happen every month, but I don't want to lose 12 days of work Critical Process Died BSOD after updated to latest build :)

    What do?

    :)

  2. BSOD - Critical Process Died

    Hi Tony,

The blue screen error with a stop code 'Critical Process Died' that you encountered can be caused by a recent update, device drivers that got corrupted or system files that got corrupted. For us to resolve your concern, kindly answer the questions below:

    • What changes were made or what updates were installed prior to the issue occurring?
    • Did you mean to say that you ran your device in safe mode when you said that you booted the device with only Microsoft Processes running?
    • Which version and build of Windows 10 is installed on your device?

As an initial recommendation, we suggest that you follow the steps on this
    link
to run the driver verifier. Driver verifier is an inbuilt tool in the Windows operating system, which helps you to test the drivers which may be corrupted. These corrupted drivers may contribute as to why you're getting a "Blue Screen of Death" (BSOD)
    or stop errors.

We look forward to your response to our queries.
