Critical process died error after system restore

    Hi,

yesterday I wanted to download a book, from a site called 'datafile'. I pressed on a button to download , had to fill in some words to check I am not a bot and a counter went down of 2 minutes. During this counter i actually left the site, because I didn't feel good about downloading something for free that normally should be paid for and decided I just buy the book in the coming week.

later that day I went to a bar. Come home ate night, and my computer was all slow. Sometimes the whole screen actually froze where ctrl alt del wouldnt even work and i had to physically turn off the computer.
Is this because I visitted that shady site called 'datafile'?
did some virus check and malware check. Little less slow, but still kind of slow inoticed today.
So I tried system restore, maybe that helped the problem, well that only made it worse as Now win10 won't start up and I get a blue screen with an inverted ascii smiley face *Sad and some message, something about 'critical process died'. What can I do to solve this issue? Can anybody help me?

    :)

  2. Is it hard drive problem or software?

But whenever the system freezes after sometime a blue screen appears saying that your system ran into an error and shows error code as critical process died.

    Blue Screen Error then 0xc00002e3

After an update I got the blue screen error, couldn't get to home screen. Tried restoring but it said no restore points were created so I reset the system instead. Now I still get an error but it says 0xc00002e3.

Edit: now it says CRITICAL PROCESS DIED

Edit: now it says 0xc00002e3 again

    1) Information (detailed) on your computer and operating system were not entered when you signed up to the forum. Please update so that this information is easily available.

    2) How old is the computer?
    3) Is there any history of hardware or software problems?
    4) When was the last time the drive was checked? Is it the original drive?
    5) Did you make any recent hardware or software changes?
    6) Are files backed up?
    7) Had you made an image of the drive?

    1) Find a flash drive that you can format.
    2) Create a bootable windows 10 iso: Download Windows 10
    3) Update your information that you have about your computer for your user name: desk top or notebook, computer manufacturer, model, drive SSD or HD, RAM, Operating system version, etc.
    4) Each computer manufacturer has a F key to boot to a device. Find out the F key for your computer. If it is a custom computer you will need to change the bios boot order so that you can boot to the USB windows 10 iso.
List of PC brands with their corresponding hot-keys
    5) When you have made the windows 10 iso power on your computer clicking the appropriate F key.
    6) Boot to the external USB hard drive.
    7) It will display the windows icon for approximately 5 - 10 minutes while it is loading.
    8) Select the language, time, currency, and keyboard.
    9) Do not click install now as this is the menu for a clean install. This gives you the options to delete partitions, format the drive, make an unallocated drive, and install windows 10 version 1703.
    10) In the left lower corner click on repair your computer.
    11) Click troubleshooting
    12) Attempt system restore
If there are no valid restore points or if system restore fails go to the next step.
    13) Attempt startup repair
If startup repair fails go to the next step
    14) Click on command prompt and open Administrator:X:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
    15) bcdedit | find "osdevice"
report the drive into the thread
    16) C:
    17) sfc /scannow
report the results into the thread
    18) chkdsk
report the results into the thread
    19) exit
    20) exit
Let us know if you can or cannot boot to windows.
If you cannot boot then plan a registry repair.

    Ah thanks,
I already solved it myself. Somehow got into some other screen, which was blue and had some options, I did some kind of reversed system restore and my system works again. But thanks for your post anyway.

If you have recovered to where you can reliably boot back into windows then perform the following steps:

Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:

    1) winver (in the pop up about windows > view your windows version and build > type this information into the thread)

    2) sfc /scannow

    3) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

    4) chkdsk /scan

When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on copy > paste into the thread

    5) make a brand new restore point

    6) back up all of your files

    7) make a backup image using Macrium
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free

    8) post a zip file so that we can troubleshoot your computer environment: BSOD - Posting Instructions - Windows 10 Forums
