    CRITICAL PROCESS DIED error in Windows and during a reinstall but not Safe Mode


    Over the last few weeks my PC has been getting increasingly unstable. The symptom is that it suddenly just locks up / freezes. Over time the issue as got increasingly worse to the point on Friday it is unusable. I have tried a lot of online searches for tips but as with a lot of the threads I found there is nothing in the EventViewer to explain with issue. With a PC that won’t even stay running for more than 30 seconds I decided to just reinstall windows. There is nothing in the event log that helps resolve this and when it crashes the BSOD appears, says it’s collecting information, doesn’t m

    Critical Process Died while trying to boot Safe mode

    Hello,

    As said in the first message, he can't access safe mode to get the dump files, when he tries to launch safe mode he gets a blue screen with the error: "CRITICAL PROCESS DIED".

    my laptop keep shutting down and restart. It says critical process died. I've tried reinstall window by resetting the pc, entering safe mode, but nothing work.

    Critical Process Died - BSOD

    Hello,

    There was a blackout, and upon starting my computer, I was greeted with the blue screen of death, with the only message being "Critical Process Died."

    I attempted all the recovery options available:

    • Safe mode gives the same error; critical process died
    • chkdsk /r completed, but did not do anything
    • SFC /scannow does not start. (Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.)
    • DISM /image (disk) /cleanup-image /restorehealth does not start. It throws the error, "could not find file specified"
      • This command works when directed towards a disk with a fresh windows installation.
    • System restore refuses to work.
    • Resetting my installation refuses to work.
    I've installed a separate windows installation to help troubleshoot.

    • SFC scannow has the same response (Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.)
    • DISM throws a different error: Error: 0x800f0801, DISM failed. No operation was performed.
    How can I recover my PC without losing all my data?
