Windows 10: Critical process error and disabled password

Windows 10. After waking from sleep mode I got ‘critical process died’. I went to advanced repair options. Setup repair did nothing. Restore N/A as I have no restore date set. I can’t do PC reset as passwords for all accounts are “invalid”. I can’t access the computer to change password via a second device as PC doesn’t appear. There may have been a software update while in sleep mode, but I can’t delete it as password invalid.Any suggestions?

Windows 10 update KB4530684 critical process died, boot drive disabled

I understand that after installing KB4530684 update you are receiving a Blue Screen error with Critical Process Died. I’ll certainly help you with the issue.



However, please let us know:

• When you say, “my SSD drive gets disabled” do you see any error message in BIOS?
  
• Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? To check type:
  winver in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit
  Enter.
  

The CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED bug check has a value of 0x000000EF. This indicates that a critical system process died. A critical process is one that forces the system to bug check if it terminates. This can happen when the state of the process is corrupted
or otherwise is damaged. When this happens, as these processes are critical to the operation of Windows, a system bug check occurs as the operating system integrity is in question. For more information, see

I would suggest you to try updating the SATA drivers from the
motherboard manufacturer’s website and see if that makes a difference.



Also, I would suggest you to share the dump files so that we can analyze them and get to the root cause of the issue. To share the files Navigate to
C:\Windows\Minidump, upload the files to OneDrive and share the OneDrive link.

Critical Process Died on windows 10 setup

Ive just opened event viewer as you suggested but I cant seem to find any error that says "critical process died"



I have attached a screenshot of the event viewer. I have scrolled to the bottom to where it first booted up.

Ive downloaded the software you sent the link for but I'm not sure how to use it as nothing shows up when I load it.

• Which version & build of Windows are you running?

To find out what version of Windows you are running:

• Press the Windows Key + R.
• A box will pop up in the bottom left side of the screen. Type winver
  and then press Enter.
• Another box will open that will tell you what version of Windows you're running and what the build is. Please post both the version number and the build number.

• What are the troubleshooting steps you've done so far?
