    Windows "Critical Stop/Error" sound plays when shutting down.


    Hello all.

    After numerous updates, I have been getting a critical stop sound on shutdown, however I have noticed the screen flashes white for a second, also tonight it made the sound twice and a small box appeared in the middle of the screen, but I couldn't read it in time... I have tried looking in Event logs, but I have no lead... Any suggestions?

    Good surround sound headset

    I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue Critical Stop Windows sound: fun for the whole family! :p

    "Critical Stop" sound sometimes on Shut down or Restart

    I have the same problem and am trying to find a fix. I think maybe that something must be running in the back ground that may cause this Critical Stop sound when shutting down or rebooting. Like you said it only happens sometimes. I hope that this is on a bug fix list of Microsoft.
