Windows 10: Crop Function Greyed out

Within the Camera App, if you take a picture, then click on the recently taken picture on the bottom right corner, this brings up the camera roll. At the top of the screen you have a few buttons. Zoom, Rotate, Crop, Delete and drop down for Photo, Document or Whiteboard. In the past, you could click the crop button, crop the image and you are done. In a recent update it appears the Crop button is greyed out unless you select "Document" in the dropdown. it does not work in "Photo" mode.


It looked like the camera app was updated this month, wondering if this was by design or possibly a mistake?

Crop effect makes it easy to remove unwanted areas of the image but since you mentioned that cropping function now adjust 3 edges of image instead of just the one edge being cropped, we suggest you download
Feedback Hub from Microsoft Store so that you can post your query and they can add
that feature to the next version of Windows.

Cropping Photos?

Thank you all for your replies, I have tried a couple "free" apps but none of them had a crop function ... I don't need a high tech editor app rather just one that allows me to crop and possibly adjust brightness/color so I can I up load the photo
onto say FB.. Have any suggestions??

In Photos for Windows 10, at some time in March 2017, the cropping function (Edit / Crop and rotate) changed. Previously when you moved the edge of the image being cropped, it cropped only that edge. Now when cropping one edge, it proportionately crops
three of the four edges (opposite edge is the one that does not adjust). So now if you want to crop just one edge, it is no longer possible as two of the others are also cropped.

Please restore functionality to enable only the one edge that is being cropped to be adjusted.
