Crucial MX300 750G SSD appears as old HDD in Windows 10 Device Manager

I had installed a Crucial MX300 750GB to replace the faulty Seagate 1TB HDD Hard Disk for my Acer Aspire E5-574G notebook, I’ve used Acer e-Recovery Management USB backup drive to restore Windows 10 factory defaults and it was done successfully.

Upon systems starts up and I’ve checked the Control Panel > Device Manager > Disk Drives it was still shown as previous Seagate 1TB (ST1000LM024) and right click the properties shown the driver is working property, done a scan for hardware change with the same and boot from inside Windows 10 to check the UEFI Firmware Settings shown the Crucial MX300 750GB was recognised as SSD.

I’ve also tried uninstalled the driver and did Power Off and Power up again, pressed F2 key entered in to BIOS menu and it recognised as Crucial Model CT750MX300SSD1.

At the moment, the Crucial MX300 SSD is accessible. However I’m not sure will it running it as optimal speeds performance or will it cause any mismatch issue?

Please could anyone help to suggestion a solution to this problem, I’ve searched in Crucial website and Microsoft website could not any specified device driver for this MX300? Is there anything else I need to do to get the Windows 10 to detect and recognise this SSD Drive?

Thank you and any help would be greatly appreciated.

    :)

Crucial MX300 750G SSD not recognized in Device Manager

    Hi
    Gerry C J Cornell
    ,

    Thanks again.

Okay, my son is also helping for this problem and he has also posted this same question for advices in Crucial Community Forum, meanwhile we think this problem could be due to Acer E-Management Recovery Image restored with previous Seagate 1TB driver, however
an update install of Windows 10 SSD driver might be a possible quick solution? But we’re not sure?

    Best Regards.

If it is working I wouldn't worry too much. As for running, there is no moving parts so any performance issues may be determined by the SATA controller on the motherboard and transfer rates.

As to drivers, I have a Crucial 120GB SSD in an HP Notebook running Linux Mint 18, no special drivers needed to load first, just booted to the LiveDVD and installed from there.

    Hi Berton,

Many thanks for your quick reply.

Yes, at the moment this SSD still workable but I'm a bit hesitant to refresh & re-install the Intel SATA AHCI driver (*example, in Windows 10 SAFE Mode) as currently this MX300 SSD is running the Win 10 OS?

I’ve contacted MS support and they said not a Win 10 bug redirected & suggest I contact Crucial Support for technical assistant, but due to region time difference I could not get a live chat session with Crucial Support but I’ve post a question in the community forum.

In addition, I’ve verified in another friend’s Acer Aspire Model F5-573 Notebook c/w 1 x Samsung 128GB SSD + 1 x WDC 1TB HDD and these are using same MS Driver files version 10.0.14393.0 (dated 21/6/2006), I’m thinking technically speaking a few system reboots Windows 10 could have detected it and auto-update for a correct type of device driver? Or alternatively it can be downloaded for a manual installation?

    Best Regards.
