    I have an issue that is not resolved yet. Ramesh Srinivasan suggested I start over with a new post question.Specifically, I want to open CSV files with Excel automatically, without clicking on the "Open With" dialog box every time.I am operating on a 64-bit Dell laptop, Windows 11 and have 64-bit Office installed through my subscription with GoDaddy.The problem, in a nutshell, is that my laptop does not recognize csv as a file type and will not allow me to attach it to Excel.When I open a csv file with the "Open With" dialog box, and choose Excel, it will open in Excel. But, going to setting

    I am trying to get a csv file to open in Excel. My version of Windows 11 does not recognize csv and it is not listed as a file type. I can open with the "open with" option, but the "always use this option" is not available on my machine. Can someone help me to get csv files to ALWAYS open in Excel when I click on them? I use 365 desktop and Excel 2016 or whatever the latest version is.

    Thanks Dave. I saw something about that on a Google search and tried it earlier today. The resulting dialog box in Windows 11 does not have a change option anywhere that I can find. The dialog box has 5 tabs. I searched through them all with no luck.

    I think it is very strange that csv files are not even listed in the file types section of the app folder, either. This has been updated by Dell and all is up to date and good to go. Except this. I get csv files in all day long and I'm getting tired of clicking on the "Open With" option, which does work.

    Hi Ron,

    Okay, please download this new registry file, I have created, then merge that with your registry and restart your PC, hopefully that will set the Excel file association and also add the CSV file type to the type list in the Settings app.
