  1. CTRL + A stopped working

Hi, CTRL + A stopped working in my Windows 11, CTRL and A are working separately and other CTRL shortcuts e.g. CTRL+S are also working fine. I have created another user profile to check and it's working fine there so the keyboard is working fine. there's some problem with my current user profile setting or something. I can't delete or reset the profile due to too much data.

    :)

  2. CTRL Keys not working.

I tried all the above methods, but still it is not working. I noticed that the onscreen keyboard is working with the CTRL and also I tried connecting an external keyboard. That worked too. I don't understand how both the CTRL stopped working suddenly as
I don't even use the right CTRL much.

    Both CTRL keys not working

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

    • Do you get any error message?
    • Did you make any changes in your computer prior to this issue?

I appreciate the troubleshooting steps you have tried to resolve the issue.

Follow the steps below and check if that helps.

Method 1: To check if Ctrl keys work in Onscreen keyboard.

    • Press Windows Key + R and type osk and hit Enter.
Try using Ctrl keys and check if that helps.

if you still face the issue, try Method 2.

Method 2: Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with the Bluetooth adapter. Refer these steps:

    • Press Windows key + X, select
      Control panel.

    • Change the view by option on the top right to
      Large icons.

    • Click on troubleshooting and click on the
view all option on the left panel.

    • Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.

    • Restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.
Hope this information is helpful. Please do let us know if you need further assistance, we’ll be glad to assist you.

    Thanks

  4. CTRL + A stopped working

Ctrl-s stopped working in Office 365 Business

    Hi biostud,

Thank you for your message in this forum.

Based on your description, I’d suggest you try the following steps below to check if the problem persists:

    1. You can go to Word File > Options > Customize Ribbon > click Customize, as shown below:

CTRL + A stopped working [IMG]

Then you can select All Commands > FileSave > Press new shortcut key > click Assign.( The option "Keyboard shortcuts Customization" is on Word.)

    2. In this
    thread
, someone mentioned that Skype application was intercepting the CTRL+S keyboard shortcut, he used a free application called “Windows Hotkey Explorer” to find that
CTRL+S was in fact being intercepted by Skype. For more details, you can refer to advice of Ernieo in this

    thread
    .

    3. If the suggestions above don’t work, you can go to
Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > select the Office > right-click and select Change > Online repair.

If the issue persist, in order to help you better, I want to confirm the information below with you:

    1. Could you provide the version of your Office> You can go to Word File > Account > Product Information and provide the full screenshot of it.(Please remove your email address)
    2. When did the issue occur? What did you set before the issue occurred, such as updating Office?
    3. You can check if you can click Save button to save the file.

    Regards,

    Sukie
