Windows 10: CTRL and SHIFT keys won't stay depressed

Hi, hoping someone can help please. When I hold SHIFT and CTRL, they don't register as staying pressed in Windows 11 Pro 10.0.22631 Build 22631.I have tried a keyboard tester and this is the case with both left and right sets of the keys. While I keep my the key depressed they register as depressed but flicking to unpressed intermittently.I don't think this is a hardware issue. I have exactly the same problem using a Logitech G613 over bluetooth and USB wireless dongle, and using the inbuilt keyboard on my Lenovo X1 Titanium.I can't think of a new program that triggered it. I use Powertoys. I

CTRL+SHIFT+8 and some others not working

Okay thanks. Didn't know that tool.
It does list Ctrl+Shift+, 3 & 8. But it doesn't say what they're registered to. (And nothing seems to happen when I press them.)

The tool turns up a very short list, by the way, compared to the screenshots on that site. Just these three plus:
Hot Key : Alt+Ctrl+Delete
Hot Key : Alt+Ctrl+J (I know what this is from)
Hot Key : Alt+Ctrl+K (Kindle)
Hot Key : Alt+F4

 

Shift/ctrl key problem.

The issue you're experiencing is probably due to incorrect settings. A Windows Ease of Access feature called
Filter keys is an accessibility function that tells the keyboard to ignore repeated strokes. When this function is enabled, it ignores whatever key is pressed down or repeatedly pressed. To verify this, follow the steps below:

• Open Control Panel.
• Click on Ease of Access.
• Under Ease of Access Center, click on Change how your keyboard works.
• Under Make it easier to type, click on Set up Filter keys.
• The Turn on Filter Keys should not be checked, as well as
  Turn on Filter Keys when right SHIFT is pressed for 8 seconds.

We also suggest that you play around with the features and check which one works best for you. If the issue persists, let us know.

 

CTRL key is NOT depressed

Reference Items:

1) It is NOT a stuck key.

2) It is not hardware related.

3) It IS Windows

My dad's laptop has a problem. Windows 10 believes that we want the CTRL key permanently depressed (see item 1).

I have used a two USB keyboards with the same result both times (see item 2). I have booted the laptop up with a Ubuntu DVD and the keyboard works fine in Ubuntu(see item 3). When I attempted to boot Windows 10 from a USB stick it came up with Command Prompt
and any commands I tried to type came up looking like "^W^I^N^D^O^W^S"

I don't know if this is that sticky key thing or what but that laptop has my dad's whole business on it and he was doing fine before Windows 10 crept onto it.
