Windows 10: Ctrl+X keyboard shortcut not working on Windows 10 when trying to cut a FOLDER

In File Explorer:

Ctrl+X works fine for cutting a single file.

Ctrl+X does not work for cutting a folder. When I try to do that, there is a an error sound. I want to move a folder from one folder to another by cutting and pasting.


As a work-around, Shift + drag works to move a folder. However, I prefer to use Ctrl + X.

Ctrl+X has not worked since I purchased a brand new computer with new installation of Windows 10 Home. It works on my older computer.


I have no idea if another program is using the Ctrl+X command. Any clues on where to start looking? Or does Ctrl+X no longer work for moving a folder?

Ctrl+X keyboard shortcut not working on Windows 10

I have this strange issue of only the Ctrl+X shortcut for cut not working. Following are some details:

1. It happens on both my desktop and laptop computers running Windows 10 with almost identical software installed. All the other shortcuts are working.
   
2. I can confirm that the keyboard(s) are working fine.
   
3. The Ctrl+X shortcut still works in Windows File Explorer.
   
4. The shortcut stops working when I open any application (Word, Excel, Visual Studio, Photoshop, etc.)
   
5. If I reboot the system and open just a web browser, I'm able to use the shortcut in the address bar. If I open any application, the shortcut stops working in the address bar of the web browser.
   

I did my research and found nothing like this. 
What could the problem be? 
More importantly, what is the solution?

 

Cut Shortcut Key not ctrl +x but ctrl + window logo + x

Hi I'm recently found out that my cut shortcut key has been changed from ctrl + x to ctrl + window logo + x.

It's very annoying, I've been searching solutions for hours and there's no answer to it.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

I'm using Windows 7 Professional.

Keyboard Short Cut CTRL + X not working in any applications

Hi There,

I have a strange issue with the keyboard shortcut, only the CTRL + X is not working in any applications except in Windows Explore. If I'm able to cut and paste in Windows Explore it means the keyboard is ok. This applies to both my PC and laptop, I have
this issue when both are running window 8.1, now I updated to Window 10, the problem is still there. Some common applications I installed on both computers are ESET, Chrome and Office.

I really couldn't figure out what's the problem, please help.
