Windows 10: CTRL-Z undo or disappear files.

Windows 10 seem to create a big issue for users.

I cut some photos from my mobile's memory card to my laptop. I put them in a new file and then resized them. Because of a wrong setting I created copies of the original photos in the same file. Pressing CTRL-Z did not work out to bring prior to resizing. Unfortunately pressing CTRL-Z for a second time was catastrophic. The photos vanished. Simply vanished.

Seems there is an issue with this command. It is supposed to help the user save some time. Instead it is creating confusion and waste of the user's time.

Dont look for your files. They are gone. Where?

But you are right, this issue is old and sometimes appears, it is since Windows 8. Look here:

Rgarding the file: check in the recycle bin, try to serch by name, in another scenario you can use only 3rd recovery apps to get it back, unfortunately there are no any recovere files option in Windows.

Files Went Missing After CTRL+Z, Still Missing After CTRL+Y

I've never used these shortcut commands in File Explorer but I see it does exactly what you describe. I think this needs to be reported in Feedback. I have XP in a Virtual Machine and Windows Explorer doesn't seem to respond to those commands and I've never
used them before. Searching the web they appear to be program commands and not File Explorer commands. (although if they are not supposed to be used in File Explorer then it shouldn't respond at all to the keys)

I found this for Windows 10, so I don't know why Ctrl +Z is removing the folder.

Ctrl+Y : Redo the ‘Undo’ action.

Ctrl+Z : Undo any action

Tried again using two folders and dragging a file from one folder to another and using Ctrl +Z does indeed undo the drag action. So not sure what is happening on your setup.
