cuda graph in task manager is gone when Hardware accellerated GPU scheduling is enabled

Hi,I notice my CUDA graph in Task Manager is gone, also the 3D graph shows the wrong percentage when Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling HAGS is enabled. In Windows 10, it was off by default, but in Windows 11, it's on. When I check HWMonitor readings, the 'D3D 3D' reading is not correct when HAGS is enabled. This seems to be the reading for Task Manager's main GPU graph. Also, the CUDA reading is gone from HWMonitor and Task Manager. I'm not noticing any performance issues.i7-9700K / RTX 3090 Ti / 32GB RAM / Windows 11 Pro 24H2On 100% core utilization, Task Manager shows 60%.When disabled, th

    Cuda not in Task Manager

Have had this problem for a while, once had CUDA in the Task Manager -> GPU 0 -> Graph dropdown menus, then disappeared. The solution for me is to go to Settings -> System -> Display -> Graphics settings (down the bottom of page) -> Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling -> Switch to "Off". After reboot the CUDA option had returned to the graphs in the Task Manager GPU window.

  3. Cuda not under task manager

    Hi there,

I have a Gtx that nvidias website says is supported indeed by CUDA,Ihave the very latest nvidia card 'driver' & I dowloaded latest CUDA for windows 10 pro, yet 'CUDA ' word doesn't show up under GPU graph, or any graph , in task manager.

Any idea? I need CUDA to make unrealengine and blender run a lot faster.

Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling affecting Task Manager

There is a 2022 post in the Windows 10 forum complaining about the effect of Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS) on Task Manager. Viz., the number of "engines" shown on the GPU section of the Performance tab drops quite a bit. Because the CUDA engine disappears from Task Manager (though CUDA tasks will still run), users can no longer monitor CUDA work being done by the card. Also, depending on how games use the DX12 APIs, graphics activity, as reported by the "3D" engine, sometimes comes in suspiciously low. Task Manager can no longer see all the work that is being done by the card.

The solution in the Microsoft Community post (disabling HAGS) works fine, but it results in lower framerates. This is not a surprise, given the motivations for HAGS stated on Microsoft's blog.

All this leads to the obvious question. In the absence of having our cake and eating it, too, which, apparently, we can't, wouldn't it be nice to get a more technical explanation of why Task Manager loses visibility to those other "engines"? I get that the HAGS innovation turns over some of Windows' work to the hardware, but why does this entail reduced monitoring capabilities? Is Windows missing an abstraction over the GPU-vendor-specific APIs for getting this "engine" data?
