  1. Cumulative Update failing

    Good morning,

Late last night I checked for updates and discovered four were available including the monthly Cumulative Update (KB4013429) for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems. So I decided to go ahead and download and install them. Everything went fine until the updates got to the Cumulative update and then it just hung up on 'Getting Windows Ready ...; Do Not turn off your computer'.

It was getting late so I just left the computer run and then this morning I discovered the Update had failed. I tried checking for updates again and it found this same update. Tried downloading and installing it and ended up with it failing again.

In my event Viewer I found the following entry when both attempts failed. Event ID: 20 .... Error Code: 0xE0000100

I am running on an HP Pavilion All-In-One P23-g017c utilizing Win 10 Home, v1607, build 14393.693 using the Windows Firewall and Windows Defender.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks and regards,

    :)

  2. Cumulative Updates For Windows 10

Someone respond to my question and asked for more information. Whenever my PC tries to update Cumulative Updates for Windows 10 for x64-based the system fails to install. I took a look at my update history and all of the Cumulative updates has failed.

Thanks for responding to my question. I took a look at my update history and as far back as I can see none of my Cumulative Update For Windows 10 has installed. Please note a few:

Cumulative Updates for Windows 10 for x64-based systems (KB3097617) failed to install on Oct. 19th

Cumulative Updates for Windows 10 for x64-based systems (KB3093266) failed to install on Oct. 16th

Cumulative Updates For Windows 10 for x 64-based Systems (KB3097617) failed to install on Oct. 14th

Cumulative Updates For Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3081455) Failed to install on Oct. 15th

    Cumulative Update failing

  5. Hi Bree,

Thanks for your quick response. I apologize for just now getting back to you but mother nature paid us a visit yesterday and dumped 17 inches of snow on us and I had to clean up the area a bit.

Anyway ... I tried the link you provided but after waiting for at least an hour the end result was the update was unsuccessful.

I note in your response that the link you gave me was for Build 14393.593. My Windows 10 build says: 14393.693

I remember I had a similar problem updating a Cumulative Update back in the Fall of 2016 and ended up having to reinstall Windows. Hope that isn't going to be the solution this time too.

When I went to the link you provided I used the install for "Cumulative Update for Win 10 v1607 for x64-Based Systems" which is how my System is labeled when I go to 'AllSettings > System > About'.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks and regards,

  6. PROBLEM CONTINUES

    Morning,

Still having Cumulative Update failures for KB4013429. Can anyone tell me why the other three updates installed correctly? They are:

    (1) Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool (KB890830)
    (2) Update for Win 10 v1607 for x64-based systems (KB4013418)
    (3) Security Update for Adobe Flash Player (KB4014329)

I have tried using the Windows Update Troubleshooter and it says it has fixed some items but I am still getting Cumulative Update failures for KB4013429.

    Thanks and regards,

This should be your build After you successfully install KB4013429 on your Windows 10. Try installing using the manual method. Here is the link for KB4013429.

You can install a .cab file using DISM like this from an elevated command prompt (you'll need to update the path in red..)

    DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:c:\temp\<whatever path>\KB4013429-x64.cab

  9. Hi OldMike65,

    I appreciate you coming aboard.

I have already tried doing the Catalog Manual update and it failed too.

I would like to try the DISM method but right now I am afraid it is a little over my expertise ...lol *Redface

    (1) If I was to try installing it via DISM where would I go to get the Cab file?

    (2) If I wanted to put the 'cab' file on my desktop would my correct path look like this:

    DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:c:\temp\desktop\KB4013429-x64.cab

    (3) Am I correct in assuming there is a space after 'exe' .... after 'Online' .... and after 'Add-Package' ?

    Thanks and regards,

If you put the cab file on your desktop, then it would look like this...
    DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:c:\desktop\KB4013429-x64.cab

Just use copy N paste if your not sure...that should work too.

Am I correct in assuming there is a space after 'exe' .... after 'Online' .... and after 'Add-Package ... YES *Smile

  11. Okay ... I think I am with you as far as the proper wording of the DISM command but where do I go to actually download the KB4013429 cab file to my desktop?

  13. Cumulative Update failing

Okay .... but before I give it a shot I want to make sure you know I have already downloaded and tried installing that same file from that link and it failed.

So, my question, Is using the DISM command different than just a normal Manual update of KB4013429?

Don't know how you tried before doing it manually ....this method should work.....if not, I am running out of ideas.
Unless you want to do a repair install of your Windows 10.
