Windows 10: CUMULATIVE UPDATE FOR MARCH 2021 KEEPS FAILING - ERROR MESSAGE 0X80073701

[COLOR=rgba20, 20, 20, 1]For almost a month, I have tried multiple times to down load KB5000802 and keep receiving an error message. I receive the error message of 0X80073701.[/COLOR]

[COLOR=rgba20, 20, 20, 1]I have used the Troubleshooter, and the advanced Trouble Shooter. I have gone into safe mode and did the system file checker and a corrupted file was fixed. But, still this cumulative update keeps failing. I am fearful taking any further involved steps that something more major could happen because of it. The Servicing Stack for March I think I'm okay with - not sure as there are so many of them I saw listed on the Microsoft website.

I don't want to do anything that would change my computer's settings or going back to a default situation for the computer. Is it possible that when the April 2021 cumulative update is released that it would install successfully despite having this error in March? [/COLOR]

[COLOR=rgba20, 20, 20, 1]Also, the 2021 - 3 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows Version 20H2 for 64-based systems KB5000842 also failed with the error of 0x80073701. [/COLOR]

February, 2021 was the last month that the cumulative update successfully downloaded onto my computer. Thank you.

Hi, there appear to be errors in your log. What was the final statement on the screen?

Looks like the two key things are the error number 0x80073701
and ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSING

Have you also checked absolute basics:
- check your disk (e.g. HDTune v2.55 free Health and Error Scan tabs
- if ok, run
chkdsk c: /scan
from an admin command or Powershell prompt

Post the summary results of those.

Hi all. Hopefully everyone is safe and well.

I have Windows 10 version 1909 OS build 18363.720 and am experiencing a problem with Windows Update. The problem is that the 2020-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems KB4541335 fails to install with error 0x80073701.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far to fix this issue with no success.
Downloaded the KB4541335 file directly from Microsoft and tried manually installing it.
Ran Windows Update Troubleshooter.
Reset Windows Update.
Ran sfc /scannow (no errors were found).
