So in case of a manual installation, there will be a lot of "cleaning" to do afterwards or do I miss something here ?

I just went back and uninstalled the update.
Don't want my "multi-systems" go amok.
    ha ha ha ha.

Well, it both helps and hurts. Helps because it shoots down the language pack theory; hurts because it means something is wonky with that PC (my production machine, as fate would have it). Good thing I'm getting ready to build another desktop, eh? Thanks for checking -- and reporting back.

Nah, it will just download more than required and replace everything - even objects that are identical. The old versions will be stuck in C:\Windows\WinSxS\Temp\PendingDeletes and removed automatically. Normally a reboot will do it, sometimes you need other tricks.

I do think it is questionable benefit to install something that hasn't been generally released through Windows update, with no indication of what it does. I certainly will wait but do appreciate others testing it out. I like testing insider builds but insider cumulative updates? No thanks.

I asked @MicrosoftHelps on twitter "Why is Windows 10 build 10586.79 not being offered on Windows Update" and linked this forum. Rubbish response of "Thanks for reaching out. Updates are released to the public in waves. Keep us posted if you need further assistance. I don't suppose they will respond to my response tweet of "That is a typical Microsoft vague answer. Why is nobody receiving this build via Windows Update? Microsoft needs to communicate".

In short they don't know. It seems MS is so big the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. I just want them to communicate better. If they just said yes this build will be available in the normal channels soon I would at least be happier. At the moment there is just uncertainty. The shroud of secrecy is what makes the likes of MS and Apple unpopular, at least for me. It builds a love and loathe relationship .

    Thanks for the info.
    "... insider cumulative updates ..." : that's a good one ! *Biggrin
More seriously, I'll definitely wait for what happens through the conventional WU channel. And if it only arrives next week on Patch day, it's still OK for me ...

I do confirm this post, startup was already fast i cannot really say if and how faster it is, but shoutdowns are amazingly fast.

It'd be tough to improve on my start up. Literally goes through BIOS and then the desktop login is ready. Maybe a second. I think that fast startup option is enabled by default but even if I do a full restart it seems to be the same. I'm pretty pleased with that. Didn't realise SSD drives were so good. I guess in conjunction with Windows 10 they make a good match.

My other laptop with Windows 7 and mechanical HD takes nearly 5 minutes to fully settle down after a reboot!!

I've done a Pro and a Home, both 64-bit, using the download and no problems yet. My versions went from 10586.71 to 10586.79.

Clean upgrade here, no issues. As far as startup time goes, I have no idea. However my Restart Time remains identical to time prior to this update. Which is still plenty fast for me compared with my old system running XP...
