Ok,, then how fast or slow would you like to have the patches come down from MS. Like the old days when we only got an SP every now and then at best or faster so the issues can be addressed in a timely manor??

+1, at least now MS is trying to get the bugs and other issues sorted out in a timely manor and that's a good thing.

It's true that Xp received several SP's 7 only received one and .. well 8 was an upgrade from 8 to 8.1 and no other SP's resulting in bugs and issues not being addressed. I guess no matter what MS does they can never please everyone.

Yeah, sure they're trying to get the bugs fixed, I'm not doubting that. But, that's why W10 was released back in july and provided us tons of bugs that were not really fixed until the Threshold 2 update? Because they were trying to fix bugs? *Wink

Anyways, buddy, don't twist my arguments, please. I'm not talking about frequency on offering updates if they're necessary, that's your point, not what I'm saying. What I'm saying here, and I'm sure you can understand it too, is that they are releasing so many patches and updates because, maybe, they don't develop the software as solid as it was done back in the day. And just to clear it up: I'm not only talking about Microsoft.

Now, you cant twist my post as you want. My opinion is the same: we, the users, have become permanent beta testers, not only in Microsoft camp, but in almost every kind of software that os been released in any kind of platform. Companies are in a hurry to be the one who brings the newest thing before anyone, and that is the perfect scenario for buggy software.

 

Ok.. point taken. But you didn't answer my question. How often would you like patches to come? And you have to keep in mind that Win7/WIn8.1 were far from perfect when they came out. A bug free OS is just about impossible to achieve.

 

Just like that old Ricky Nelson song (Garden Party) says:

By the way patch Tuesday covers a lot of bugs. Cannot wait till next build *Biggrin

 

Good point and the latest insider build is working just fine.

 

While sometimes annoying, I appreciate the quick response Microsoft has been taking to handle the bugs. With so many systems out there, configurations it's very difficult to anticipate how programming and hardware will clash. On this forum I see more people report no problems and a few having issues. *Confused

All these updates make me happy with a working start / notifications menu............but it's just for a day. The second boot is back to misery

 

One thing that I have noticed with Win 10, 1511 (10586.104), when I power up and check with Windows Explorer, my Mapped Drives (NAS) show with a Red X on them. When I click on them though, they are working and the Red X goes away. Same behavior on my Win 7 Pro machines also.
With my Insider Preview machines (Desktop, currently 14257.1000), that behavior does not happen, in other words, when I boot up and use Windows Explorer to look, ALL of my NAS mapped drives show up normally.
I used the manual download and got the 64 bit patch KB3140742 and applied it to one of my Win10 Desktops and my Laptop (1511 10586.112) and the NAS drives now show correctly after navigating to them (several re-boots to insure it sticks). This is the first time that I have been without RED X's on my NAS drives since Forever!
Someone at MS seems to have done some work and actually got the mapped NAS drive functionality working correctly (better)!!!
Has anyone else noticed this improvement in behavior?
Opps! Spoke too soon, this morning after booting up the laptop, the mapped NAS drives are still showing the Red X's, then checking the Desktop, it too is Red X'd!!
The insider Preview (upgraded to 14267) are still showing all OK!
