so the iso image, after starting the install, gets to the point where it says "Install Windows 10 Pro" "Keep personal files and apps".

This is just an upgrade? right? it's not going to format or lose anything? Correct?

I've backed up but I really don't want to reinstall everything.

If you check " Keep all files and programs " then Wds will keep all as is .

.14 seems faster than .11 did. Maybe that's because some of my earlier privacy settings (in 10240?) were restored?

Someone here will probably say I'm hallucinating or making it up, but I thought that well before I posted in this thread.

Since I'm the only one who uses my computer, I don't care if anyone else thinks I am wrong.

thanks RonCFL. The previous "upgrades" didn't have those options so I was uncomfortable with continuing.

Has already happened, but that person (I'd call him/her something else, but I don't want to get banned), doesn't use my computer. So, what do they know?!

  7. In reference to the update "Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3120677) - Error 0x800706d9" after trying everything I could with no luck including a clean start and trying to download the update from Microsoft catalogue which also errored out I found this site where I was able to download and install the update with absolutely no problems or errors, Windows 10 Update Archive. I hope this helps all that are having a problem installing this update.

I never did an upgrade, always clean installs since the beginning as was given a retail key as a present but I find running the ISO through MSMG Toolkit to remove packages I don't need and which removes most of the telemetry then using a tool called Toggle Tweaker after install works the best to keep it under control and saves loads of time as no need to go through all the reg tweaks manually and so far I've had no issues with Win 10

"Faster" is relative. If you mean the computer will be faster, yes this is the case with a fresh installation. But if one has tons of programs to reinstall an upgrade (keep everything) is way faster (to do) than a clean-install.

I am hoping one of these updates will fix the Sleep Mode - Blue Screen problem. W10 has a serious power management issue on some laptops (mine).

After installation with ISO, and responding to "find new updates" the upgrade brought me up to 10586.14 with out additional KB3210677 needed.
And I agree that speed is much faster to upgrade because of the ton of applications that I have installed. It usually takes me several weeks to move to a new computer Cumulative Update KB3120677 Nov. 24th. :) I prefer clean installs but there is a trade off.

  13. Cumulative Update KB3120677 Nov. 24th.

That is why I have only upgraded to now as if I did a clean install it would take me ages to re put them back in.
After the next big upgrade depending how it goes I may then clean install. but until then I will just do upgrades on all my systems I look after.

Unless they included the update in the ISO, since you have version 10586.14 the update was done successfully.

Back in the old days, I used to reformat my C drive and clean install everything at least once a year. But with many more installed programs and extensive customization, that's now become too daunting a task unless I see a clear need for it. With everything currently chugging along smoothly with 1511 on all my PCs, what's clear is there's not any need. *Smile
