Windows 10: Cumulative Update KB3189866 Windows 10 build 14393.187

All done. About 15 minutes total so not too bad.

 

So far, so good. Windows Update Cleanup in Cleanmgr.exe (Disk Cleanup) is 1.34GB, so that definitely confirms the "growing size" of cumulative updates. Seems to be working OK on my Lenovo notebooks and Surface Pro 3. I'm waiting until after the workday ends to update my production desktop. At least, Patch Tuesday/Update Tuesday remains fairly predictable!

PS: [Note added 9/14 8:40 AM]When I run the Update Cleanup, it runs forever without terminating. Forcible reboot after 5 mins seems to be enough to clear out the Windows Update Cleanup items. Seems to hang at 80-90% on the progress car during that phase (Windows Update Cleanup). Wonder what's up with that? Just tried canceling the cleanup on a test machine and that works, too, without requiring a reboot. Sigh.

 

Installed with no issues so far.

 

Wow. You must have a super computer. Still at 95% and now 90 minutes stuck on that too. Really sick of it now. Only 50 minute's to go before work commitments makes me pull the plug.

 

Mine is approaching an hour at 95%.

 

Still stuck at 95% on 2 pc's. What's the problem?????????????????? These are not old inadequate machines.

 

The processing power of your computer has nothing to do with your downloading speeds...that's all your local Internet access, your local Microsoft server, etc., so if one had a "supercomputer" but the same Internet access the download wouldn't proceed any faster. If your update seems to be taking an inordinate amount of time it is likely because of local network traffic in your neck of the Internet woods. BTW, unless you need to download something else, you can keep working while the download continues in the background, and if you have your "work hours" set properly then you won't be even asked to reboot until work is finished (and if you are asked just say no until it suits you.)

I noticed I have about six updates including the cumulative--mine hung too at 95% but only for a couple of minutes, luckily, But I have in the past had my flight upgrades hang at a certain spot for *hours* and I have 105mB/down & up. Be patient...*Wink

 

Still hanging here.....................might just look for these to manually install, losing patience. Thank goodness I'm not using MS Office!

 

I was stuck at 95% for maybe 15 minutes. My approach these days is to just not worry about it, and go about my business. Sometimes they come in bang-zoom, sometimes they linger, etc. It'll come along sooner or later...

 

Yeah, I'm stuck at 95% too.

 

Both my 32 bit and 64 bit Have downloaded and are running fine

 

Done and dusted. Took about 20 minutes start to finish.

 

How long should I wait (its now been almost 3 hours at 95%) before trying something else like a manual download?

 

It took me about 15 minutes. I noticed when the computer was restarting that my log in picture is back.

 

1.34 GBs is the same size as my update. A little large for anyone on a limited data plan.
