Windows 10: Cumulative Update KB3189866 Windows 10 build 14393.187

I am not usually this fortunate, but first try at update from a cold start it was there and about 15 minutes completion*Biggrin

 

Windows is supposed to check which parts of a cumulative update you already have installed, and only update the new stuff. This is the description of the fix - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3189866 - in which it says

"If you have installed previous updates, only the new fixes that are contained in this package will be downloaded and installed to your computer. If you are installing a Windows 10 update package for the first time, the package for the x86 version is 255 MB and the package for the x64 version is 431 MB."

So I'm not sure why there's such a huge download.

 

I think most of this package is new, hence the large download.

I'm not sure but could it be that 'package' is used to get the files necessary to install the update?

 

Been stuck at 95% for over an hr. All updates went fine until KB3189866; Procdump grabbed crash dumps from ShellExperienceHost.exe and svchost.exe (hosting wuau) during updates. *Mad

 

Thanks all done took about 15 minutes to install

 

Stuck at 95% here a well. Second machine stuck at 54%. What is going on with this update ?

svchost.exe hosting wuau has 3 threads in wait chain, waiting for another svchost process hosting smart card service and SSDP Discovery service.

 

Since updates were stuck downloading, i restarted machine and now each update is listed ready to install. Going to let Windows decide when to do it. Maybe it knows better than me *really

 

Went smooth. Took a few minutes to install.

 

First try, stuck at 67%, restart and try, stuck at 45%. Give up and left for work.
