I think nobody is getting this through the normal Windows update method. Somebody confused the issue earlier by saying it came through Windows update but they were referring to last weeks KB. But I agree, I'm not going to retrieve an update other than through Windows update. Not sure what MS are playing at but I guess it will came through Windows update either tonight or patch Tuesday. Maybe even a latter version number than this one wil come through this way. The less amount of times I have to update the better. But my concern was that it should of been showing on Windows update but I was not seeing it - but it's very clear now that MS has not done it this way on this occasion. As my system has no evident problems on .222 I will wait it out. No sense fixing what isn't broken at the moment!

I couldn't get this update, through windows update, so I went to the windows update catalog, and downloaded it yesterday, on one of my computers. ( A Dell- Inspiron 15 5558. Had no issues.

I did the same thing today on my Desktop today, going through update catalog) ( Acer Aspire-X AXC-703G UW51. No problems on this one either.
so far OK !

Do you really need KB3197356 if you already have KB3194496 installed with no problems?

 

I don't think you do need it. I'll take it if it finds its way into the conventional Windows update but am not going out of my way to manually install. MS are behaving strangely on this one though. I suppose I've been lucky because the last update went in fine for me. But from update to update despite the fixes MS always list I never notice any change. So I'd say if your system seems ok then stay well away until your offered the KB or likely a different newer KB in the next few days. Patch Tuesday is imminent and I would wager a Windows update release will happen then

I don't think It has shown up anywhere. Don't know what MS is playing at.

 

if I use official Media Creation Tool - Will I be able to download the copy of Windows 10 with latest updates ?

At this time it doesn't include KB97356.

 

Totally agree Kado *Thumbs. As far as I know there has been no official explanation.

 

I was intending to wait until Tuesday to see if the .223 update came down then, but I got antsy and applied the .msu file. It took a while, but went to completion without incident, and now I'm at .223. (I had already done the workaround and gotten .222 installed.)

 

Updated to .223, no issues, so far.
