  1. Cumulative Update KB3200970 Windows 10 version 1607 build 14393.447

I see these sorts of events from time to time too. And like you when something wasn't even in use. I'll go days without anything in here and then gluts of periods with bizarre entries such as the hardware one. All the time Windows works absolutely fine. I think it's just part of the fun Windows 10 gives us!

  2. Straaaaaange?! I got a sticky note on my screen when I just booted it up, removed it and I know perfectly sure that I haven't used sticky notes before. Haunted PC?!

All installed OK but only after a fight...

I've noticed this before (UK) that if W10 launches into an update check in the evening and a large update such as this is present, then it more often than not stalls. Last night left me with a flashing update screen and Defender 'stuck' on installing an update. This second update check of the day happens if I leave the PC unattended for a while.

In the end I rolled back to yesterday mornings Macrium image and as I was using the PC last night only Defender ran a new check. No cumulative appeared.

This morning Windows Update grabs the cumulative and it all installs OK although it took around 10 minutes in the 'do not turn off' phase following the restart. That's a long time for a quick PC with SSD. All in all it took around 40 minutes from me forcing an update. As has become the norm, I'm currently another 1.5Gb down on the deal following this update (haven't run a cleanup yet). The AU update clean installed at the time and all my stuff installed left me with around 47Gb free. That's now 42Gb after this latest update. Accounting for say 500Mb of my own stuff that might have been added that's one heck of a lot of space used by just a few updates.

Microsoft... Please can we have a 'do not check for updates within these hours' as well as the 'Quiet hours' setting.

exact same flashing problem for me and a few others. I ended up resetting windows update via Brinks batch file from his tutorial and it got me going ok but what a shocking show from MS! I think it was luck of the draw or lack of in our cases!

Nothing yet on Windows 10 Mobile, even the 14393.351 didn`t show up *Sad. I`m starting to think that there is a problem with my phone.

It certainly seems that way. Haven't updated my 32 bit version yet, lol, there are just not enough hours in the day for the time involved in all this.

    Cumulative Update KB3200970 Windows 10 version 1607 build 14393.447

Downloaded and installed all the updates including Cumulative KB3200970. Two hours later I received a message that it wanted to download KB3200970 again. It hung at 0% for a couple of minutes and then said I was up-to-date. My Reliability Monitor shows two entries for KB3200970 as a "Successful Windows Update". I don't know what it was doing.

Hey i'm just curious if anyone has the same issue with the name of update KB890830, like everything is okey, but the name is October, i don't know if Microsoft has done a mistake with translation but it says October.

    Original name: Nástroj pro odebrání škodlivého softwaru systému Windows pro Windows 8, 8.1, 10 a Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2 x64 Edition – říjen 2016 (KB890830)
    PS: říjen = october
Thank your for your answers *Smile

  10. I also updated to 14393.447 yesterday. Took me a long time, over an hour to DL and install, but I am limited to a Telkom ISP "up to" 4Mbps ADSL connection

  12. Yes, I haven't got the spare time for the number of MS updates (are we now past double figures for the amount of different cumulative updates since anniversary update came out) with family demands to deal with - this is why I get frustrated with the frequency of them and even more frustrated when it's not a simple process. I end up babysitting the whole process because I don't trust MS and their QA too much nowadays. We have iOS devices too and Apple seem to enjoy pushing updates out everytime the wind changes direction too. The whole family spends more time updating everything we have rather than actually using the things!!!

Well I started my 32 bit install off to check for updates one hour and ten minutes ago. Its currently stuck on 'downloading update 77%'

MS hopes/hoped for 1 Billion devices using W10. 10 billion PC's like my laptop drawing say 40 watts per hour faffing about with these updates would equate to 40000000000 watt/hours globally. That's 40000000 kW/hrs or 40,000 MW/hrs globally. W10 is not green !
