I think that's a wise decision. The 'progress' indicators don't always track what's really going on. In fact, this seems to be true across the board for installation of stuff, no matter the software, OS, or what have you. I have had so many installations stuck on some random percentage, and then, done! Or run right up to 100%, then stay there for half an hour. Whatever, I try not to pay attention, and just go about my business Cumulative Update KB3206632 Windows 10 PC and Mobile Build 14393.576 :)

  2. Looks correct. I used to have problems with booting up after restoring a disk image created with Macrium Reflect with my external USB drive still connected, thinking the problem was with Windows or Macrium Reflect. I disconnected the drive, rebooted successfully. Happened to me several times in the past.

  3. Updated reasonably fast on my main rig, prob 15 mins start to finish. Our weak celeron powered BRIX machine started over an hour ago and it's been stuck on getting windows ready for about 45 mins now! It is always very slow but I think tonight breaks the record!

  5. The update is downloading now on my 2010 HP Pavilion desktop. Have never had any problems with downloading/installing Win-10 updates in a timely manner over the past 16 months.

That being said, when is EDGE going to grow up and leave adolescence behind? It never gets new features to make Printing and Navigating more flexible, and useful.

These updates keep saying "nothing new this time". The word "Update" is a misnomer in a lot of ways, when it comes to Windows10. The word "Patch" was more descriptive, don't cha think?

  6. doh! After all that I come back to look at the pc and it's on the login screen, thinking it's over at long last I login and a notification pops up to say update failed to install! The security update and flash went in fine but this cumulative one failed. Start again, check for updates and it finds the cumulative update but it's now stuck on downloading 0% for last ten minutes.

EDIT It got to preparing to install updates 10% and stayed for ages before reporting failure, a cryptic numerical code and please try again later. Have rebooted and tried again. But after quickly jumping to 10% again it seems stuck there once more. A frustrating evening long battle and one I don't feel I am going to win!

All good here. 'Bout 20-25 minutes on a cheap 2GB Tablet.

  9. Aside from the unusually long sequence about not turning off the computer during shut down, which was around 7 minutes, it installed fine. No event errors after a second reboot for good measure. Just the usual half hour time it takes to complete an Extended Disk Cleanup after each Windows Update installed.

  11. Getting nowhere, have now opted to use Brink's batch to reset Windows update and then try the standalone installer for x64 linked in the first post. Not much fun. The standalone installer has been going about ten minutes on installing but that green bar has barely moved, guess this will also take ages and eventually error out too

twenty mins later and that installation phase finished, now restarted as prompted and now staring at blue screen with the 'getting Windows ready' and spinning dots. I sure hope this works and doesn't take forever

another 15 mins but it seems to of worked! I'm getting the impression the celeron in this PC is just too weak to cope with the rigours of these updates and that's much of the problem

Three computers today stuck at 95%, two of them finally updated, the other one has been sitting for a couple of hours. The SSD light shows activity.
I have three more to update tomorrow, hope MS gets the kinks out soon...

  14. Two PCs: one an HP Pavilion and the other a Samsung. Both sitting at 95% for KB3206632 for more than two hours. I tried the troubleshooter in control Panel for fixing Windows Updates. No luck!. Normally, in the past, after running the Troubleshooter to fix issues with Windows Updates, that would cause the update to fail. Then, I would be able to reboot. This time around, nothing happened...I am going to reboot anyway and if anything is broken I can rely on a system image backup made luckily this morning..

  15. that was similar to me too, when I got stuck the Windows module installer was running a constant 30%. I ran the standalone installer after resetting Windows update which has worked
