Windows 10: Cumulative Update KB4013429 and KB4013418 Windows 10 Build 14393.953

On your laptop, on my desktop I tried three times before it took but the third time was after a reboot and shutting off Malwarebytes. Don't know if either action helped or if it was just coincidence; I expect that traffic is heavy to the servers.

On the custom box, I've only had a bad time with a Windows Update one other time and I did end up shutting the computer off and leaving it a minute then rebooting and doing a redo of the entire process. Don't recommend doing that but rather leave it go for quite some time and see what happens after a couple of hours.

 

Successfully updated. A little slow but nothing I haven't seen before.
Immediately afterwards tried to connect to a remote slingbox 500.
While the "web part" of the plug-in worked fine the popup window that simulates a television with remote didn't appear.
After uninstalling the plug in and reinstalling I had the same result.
Finally I uninstalled the cumulative update.
Bingo: slingbox is working again.
Wonder if this is related to the WMP issues referred to above.
Any thoughts.

The update went great on Erin's lappy.

 

I downloaded the updates from the links to the catalogue then ran them and we have joy in the house on the laptop. My, it's much faster that way too! Then I ran check for updates again and got the other two.

On my custom box it ended up shutting down! Turned off! So I hit the power button and looks like it was a success too!

Man are Windows updates a PITA! I wish they would dump that spinney circle thing and put a progress bar in that actually works!

 

Good to see all ended well. I agree with a progress bar that works.

 

Here's something strange, it tells you on the link to the page that you get a message to check your PRIVACY SETTINGS before you download/install the Creators Update. What's the deal with that?

 

Didn't read all three pages and I had the same, about 50" for me.

 

Something weird just happened. Turned my PC on and it just stuck at the BIOS boot up screen. I did a hard reset and everything seems ok now and there's nothing in RH to say there was any issues. Just a bit weird really

Probably related to the change of the Privacy settings that are supposed to be easier and more obvious in the Creators edition. Review may just mean make a note of the old settings? However this is Microsoft.....

 

Finally the update installed. Once installed everything seems to be working fine. Only time will tell! *Huh

 

Upgraded an HP laptop and a Toshiba laptop. Both took what seemed like forever.

Chrome crashes on HP now. I uninstalled and re-installed Chrome, made sure Chrome was OK in the Internet Security settings of our Spectrum program. Rebooted, still crashes. Uninstall/Install Chrome again 0 this time deleted all bookmarks, etc, - still crashing.

Toshiba touchpad right click disappeared. I had to enable double tap as the Context menu method. This Toshiba has the Synaptics pad with button area of pad, but not physical buttons.
