Discus and support Cumulative Update KB4034658 Windows 10 v1607 Build 14393.1593 in Windows 10 News to solve the problem; I haven't had the Creators Update and KB4034658 has cleared my list of updates as well. Maybe they are hoping those of us who have not been offered... Discussion in 'Windows 10 News' started by Brink, Aug 7, 2017.

Maybe they are hoping those of us who have not been offered the creators update will also go away--???

Perhaps BRINK could advise us on these matters that concern us.

MS has a policy of not offering upgrades to configurations it thinks aren't compatible. At least it tries to do that. For example, PCs with some Broadcom hardware did not have a compatible driver- so the hardware wouldn't work.

MS warns that if you upgrade manually- which you're free to do- you may bypass those checks.

If you choose to upgrade manually- and it's great advice before any major change- create or update your disk image so you've a route back if things go wrong. I hope you're already using disk imaging routinely as we so often recommend.

Seems strange that I haven't been offered creators though yet I got that privacy settings kb almost four weeks ago which normally precedes the creators update arrival. I'll have to check if I have any Broadcom hardware. Not really geared up on that, I just plugged in my Ethernet cable and off I went. I don't really get why our decaying living room box with some kind of ancient pentium and tortoise like intel gpu gets it a couple months ago yet the main machine with still pretty cutting edge specs (at least they were summer 2015 when I got it) remains on v1607. All the other feature updates through to and including anniversary update literally came down the pipe within days of official public release so I just don't understand why creators just doesn't get pushed. Things cannot of changed to such an extent that my hardware is extinct to windows 10 feature updates. I know the update can forced but it really is frustrating that windows update / ms servers just won't do its job and auto push it. Perhaps MS should be pushing some kind of notification to advise just what it is in a persons machine that it doesn't like! I hope that maybe when the fall creators update is released it might skip over the April one and update straight to that (wonder if it is even possible to go straight from anniversary to fall creators update)

there definetely needs to be some clarity. Many friends and family when I've asked them are reporting to me that they haven't received the update either which makes me think the article I saw where MS reported phased roll out of creators was over was a total lie. Surely we aren't all rocking incompatible hardware which makes me think the roll out/ ms servers are flawed. Only a handful of people I know have actually got it and to be honest most normal users wouldn't have a clue about manually updating and as such rely on windows update to do its job.

I was only offered it about a week ago for the first time, by normal Windows update. I declined, and am back on track with 1607.

  6. Is that the pc specialist laptop you got offered it on ( the machine I am not getting it on is a pc specialist desktop build)? Even that is poor form by MS, why it took almost 4 months to reach you! I can understand why one might decline it though. Even though there is very little difference to detect I have found bugs on our other machine (mainly with store and it's updating of apps) which didn't exist in anniversary update

EDIT, just checked, no Broadcom hardware in my machine.

And on my machine, I use one disk as insider and have had no problems with these even newer builds, so it is not a hardware or driver issue.

  11. Totally baffling then. It all points to MS and the likelihood is they are still drip feeding the update then. There is no reason why it shouldn't be coming through windows update. I've never known anything like it.

Microsoft is obviously in no hurry to get everyone on 1703. Probably best not to force the update onto people. Perhaps in the future they can just have a link in the Windows Update screen to upgrade at the users choice instead of pushing it as an update.

I have downloaded the Creator's Update App and its icon now sits in my Start Menu. If I click on it a window opens with a nice black and white photograph that tells me the Windows 10 Creator's Update is available now, and that's it. Nothing to click on, so what happens now? I am getting out of my depth here.
