Downloaded and installed ok all working smooth

 

Looking at my installed updates I see that I also got one for stability improvements with the servicing stack (KB4054022), it was slipped in at the same time as this cumulative update.

A rather under-whelming update.

 

I think it's all we can expect at this stage cereberus. The devs are probably focused on RS4 now.

 

Hardly ever go near IE, but it's been busted here since FCU. Just a crash 'n burn every time. But according to the notes, they fixed a lot of IE/Edge WinHTTP (?) stuff, and now it runs normally. I still don't go near it much. Just the very occasional bank site that is still state-of-the-art 1998. *Smile

 

The best sort; I much prefer bug fixes over new features.

I just restored my machine back to the beginning of November. I then checked Windows Update and KB4048955 was no longer offered. Instead, MS Update offered the new KB4051963 update and this update installed properly. Since it is a cumulative update, I no longer need to fight with KB4048955 and my system is up to date again.

Thanks for pointing that out. That additional update was stealthily installed on my P.C. as well. Will do some Googling to see what it's all about. Boy...I'm gonna miss the "Control Panel" when it's eventually removed from Windows 10.

 

Just installed on both machines very quickly, 10 to 14 minutes max, I am at build 16299.98, but I still see this "amd64-based systems" thing. Is that the new norm?

 

what happened to insider preview getting updates before non insider builds???

 

That hasn't happened for some time now.

 

I was not really talking about new features but the fact that none of the commonly reported issues had been tackled that have been fixed in Insider eg auto restarting of apps, English GB standard keyboard (and many other languages) not available, raid volumes not being visible etc.
