Windows 10: Cumulative Update KB4089848 Windows 10 v1709 Build 16299.334 - Mar. 22

I just finished one that I had to use the Offline/Standalone Installer on, seems okay.

Why do I have a hunch that all these updates have SOMETHING to do with the upcoming SCU? Because well... all those sudden updates, you know....

This raccoon wonders about it, or is it pure coincidence?

 

One upon a time about the only time one heard about updates was the cry of the newspaper seller out on the street.

No issues here. Installed in five minutes. Now to update my two PCs at work.

 

Desktop & notebook are getting it from WU. Tablet says "Up-to-date"? Maybe an issue because tablet is 32-bit?
3 out of 7 computers said "Up-to-date", had to do manually. Had nothing to do with 32-bit or age of computer.

 

I checked for updates on Lappy around 8:35 last night, Mike, and although I didn't pay close attention to what was going on, when I looked, Restart was waiting for me. I restarted at 9:10 and it was finished by 9:14.

I think if I'd been watching the Lappy, and if I'd seen Restart sooner, the CU would have finished a lot sooner.

I can pinpoint the times because I was skyping with a friend and we were comparing notes. *Smile

 

I ended up just downloading it Wynona, as it just kept telling me I was up to date.

 

At least you got it, and may I assume there were no glitches?

Because others had a lot of "it didn't install; retry", I was really hesitant to even check, but when I did, it was so painless I was flabbergasted!

 

No issues at all Wynona, installed fine. *Smile

 

I have not installed the latest KB, but my Exploit is on by Default>

 

Same here, on 3 of 7 machines. 4 did it from WU. No pattern I recognize.

 

That would be because you have the EN-US install of Windows 10. Evidence is mounting that it got broken when translated for other languages, my EN-GB included...

*Ditto, I was in the same boat as you were. I finally got to install it (KB4089848) by downloading the standalone package from the Microsoft Update Catalog this morning. That was after checking for updates for almost close to a whole day. I should add that was a first in a long time. Normally, I would get any update by just "Checking for Updates" even though I have put some restrictions with regard to "Automatic Updates" in GP editor. I never liked the idea of Windows automatically downloading and installing updates on my machine unbeknownst to me. I know most members of this forum won't agree with me on this one, but the time frame that Microsoft needs when I am not using my machine is not easy to provide. I can be using the PC at any time 2, 3, or 11 O'clock in the morning or in the afternoon, depending on the day...

 

Remember this guy.
On 2 systems this key was not set as MS says it is not required in Windows 10 as of the last update.
Ran WU multiple times and it said I was up to date.
I set the key and as soon as I tried WU it offered the update.
