Windows 10: Cumulative Update KB4089848 Windows 10 v1709 Build 16299.334 - Mar. 22

I'm gonna pass on this one as I'm not experiencing any issues with the included Key changes.

Concerning the short update interval, I wonder if there is something in there MS is not divulging like profile-telemetry: see facebook debacle. *Devil

 

Very nice findings. I remember having set these values with regard to QualityCompact at some point in time when Microsoft was asking that all third-party A-V software be updated before one can get some updates. I just went to check in regedit.exe and I don't see them anymore. I have never removed them myself. Now, I understand why I couldn't get KB4089848 when checking for Updates. As explained in my post # 57, I had to download it manually.

 

For the record: I am not offered this update via WU.

Also, I don't have the above key in Registry either - I do not have any AV installed on my PC.

 

Completed the upgrade on four computers in the office. Three using WU and one using the MS Download. So far no problems.

I wish they would provide an explanation, but I'm not holding my breath.
Pretty much why I gave up on the Insider Previews. Nobody in the MS Feedback Forum wants new features, just fix what's broken.

You (& 100 others) can feedback the same thing 100 times & it's just ignored.

 

On another forum a friend is running only Windows Defender and the key is missing. He install the key and received the new update on 1st try after it has failed all day.

I posted a reg file in my other post #58 and it will set the key. It won't hurt to give it a try.

Interesting, as I was able to download and install this update manually without any issues (couldn't resist) - and without having this key in the Registry, obviously.

krzemien, I dont use AV or WD but have the registry key. Windows updates works flawlessly, get the key. *Smile

You can also add the Spanish version for Latin America. I dont use Exploit protection but I had noticed that it was a mess. This update fixed it. The translation remains very confusing.

Just rebooted after installing this update from windows catalog & pretty much right away got a advert for the mobile version of cortana *Mad

 

Tried since last night to get Windows Update to find this update and it never did saying only that the system is up to date. Just downloaded the KB from the catalog and "installed." Installed in quotes because afterward a message said the following:





All of this on a fresh install of Windows 10. Still on 309. What the heck Microsoft.

Even though the update was successfully installed, Windows Update incorrectly reports that the update failed to install. To verify the installation, select Check for Updates to confirm that there are no additional updates available.

You can also type About your PC in the Search box on your taskbar to confirm that your device is using the expected OS build.

Microsoft is working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

 

The update was not successfully installed as below. Tried twice. Never had this happen before.

 

I did the Registry Editor key and Windows Update found and installed the KB. This should not be necessary as I have only Windows Defender and MBAM installed which is supposed to be compatible.
