Installed quickly on my Dell Inspiron 7559. However, after the restart, I checked Reliability History like I always do after every Cumu Update and it's not showing up in there. It doesn't show up in "Installed Update History" either. The OS Build is correct, though. Not sure what's up with that. Everything seems to be running just fine.

It's downloading! It's automatically downloading! I don't have to go get it manually! I didn't even have to manually check for downloads! I could cry right now.

Well that was fast AND productive....

So, no problems this time logging in after the second attempt at getting this KB4090913 update.

Macrium Reflect - again my hero.

Of note: During that first attempt, during the installation phase of the update just before restart, Windows WAS in the middle of doing Maintenance Tasks at the exact same time. I know this for a fact because I had a visual alert pop up that I've set to notify me whenever Window's removes it's 'out of date' Windows Defender Platform folder where MpCmdRun.exe was last found. ( C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Platform\4.12.17007.18011-0) required by a scheduled scan task command I run.

  4. Cumulative Update KB4090913 Windows 10 v1709 Build 16299.251 - Mar. 5

Finally installed on both machines. It got a bit scary at one point; my main machine (only two and half years old) on which I started the download first finished last compared to secondary machine (more than 8 years old). On the main machine, the download went smooth, but after the "restart" it hung at 82% for more than one hour. I was even at some point going to turn it off with the power button when it suddenly finished and gave the lock screen. Ouff!!

  5. Ooooh-KAY?! Now that was a bit of a straaaaange install... Kept on falling back halfway to 1 % en krept on to 64%... Falls back to 1%, then to 54%, falls back again to 1% and finally reaches 100% where it sits for a few seconds... and completes the installation...

    WEEEEEIRD!

The lack of a user would explain why it ran the 'first sign-in animation' - and why 'It's taking a bit longer than expected....'

Great news @Farvatten, you can never have enough backups. *Smile

I'm concerned as to what may have corrupted the registry, it seems unlikely that this update would have done that. My first step would be chkdisk /f /r but that's really a conversation for a thread of its own.

3 completed via Windows Update, 4 more to go. Better than the last ones which had to be done manually via the msu download.

3 of the 4 say "Up to Date", doing it manually.

The only noticeable pattern is it appears that the oldest computers (more than 9 years) have to be done manually.

KB4090913 installed and running fine. One strange think that happened was my Edge browser setting changed to not allow any cookies, but I was able to manually change that.

One question I do have is from KB4058258 that originally was stuck in "needs a restart" , today I looked and it's showing "failed to install" Do I need to concern myself with that or does the newer Cumulative updates supersede this ?

Mine did that too. Went to 60% and stalled. While I was trying to download/install the stand alone update the auto update fell back to 34% and when the stand alone failed to install - the automatic update went back to 60% and FINALLY finished. When I restarted it, the process completely relatively quickly but message box popped up that Personalized settings were not responding. I thought "RUT ROH". I wanted so badly to turn it off but instead I left the room for a few minutes
and when I came back it was booting properly.
