Without being an Intel employee *Tongue and not the expert on that, I believe that "Production" means that the update has been released to manufacturers so they can update their BIOS. So if the manufacturer has not implemented it yet, you have to wait... (for instance hp completed their implementation for all CPUs they use, a couple of days ago!!!)

Also on my Haswell 306C3 machine InSpectre informs me that:

"This system's hardware has been updated with new features required to allow its operating system to protect against the Spectre vulnerabilities and/or to minimize their impact upon the system's performance. (Protection from the Meltdown vulnerability does not require BIOS or processor updates.)"

But I've done no such thing - the hardware /BIOS hasn't been changed in 2 years....now I'm REALLY confused!!

Things are done sequentially and if they fail, the get a low priority as we have to do the new ones. You definitely know that!!!

Sorry - don't get what you mean - Yes things are done in sequence but here we have 2 computers both on the list with the same status so i would expect them to behave the same

Please revisit my 2 screen shots from the Intel master List - you will see that both the 206A7 and the 306C3 have the same status. That implies that both have been completed in their turn and that KB4090007 should have the same effect on both. But it doesn't.

 

I was just joking....as I have 35 years in IT, I have learned (most of the times, the hard way) that although computers do exactly what we tell them to do, sometimes things do not make much sense and we have to dig more!

Now seriously, your situation does not make sense. Especially the fact that the 306C3 has not been updated. The only thing that I can think of, is that your specific one, was not affected by the Spectre vulnerability. Thus it shows by Inspectre as OK.

 

My guess is that its not included in the MCU - I still do not understand the slower performance w/o the MC patch tho?

 

Craig, I think you got it wrong. The patch has been applied, that's the reasin for the slow performance. The question is why although the patch is applied it shows as NOT protected

BUT....Not so because BEFORE I did the MCU, on the 306C3 this is what I got showing that it WAS vulnerable to Spectre.

First start by finding the microcode revision you currently have and check it against Intel's list.

 

I may be way behind the times here but has this CU ended creating Homegroups?

 

But the Intel list doesn't show microcode revision - there is a column called "Pre- Mitigation Production MCU" but it's empty for both the processors i have...or do you mean AFTER the MCU is installed?
