Windows 10: Curser not working

I don't know what else to call it. It's not my mouse, but the big rectangular - shaped box that you use to slide the curser around. It's underneath all of the keys. Anyway, it's not working. It keeps glitching. I try to use it, but it either goes haywire or doesn't even move. Now, it won't even work. Sometimes, I'm not even touching it, yet it is messing up my screen. It keeps changing the size of my screen, so I have to change it constantly. I don't know what is wrong with it. I have tried cleaning it and everything...

• Which windows are you using?
• When was the last time this was working good?
• Does this happen all time when system restarts?

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.

It’s unfortunate that touch pad becomes inactive frequently and the pointer doesn’t respond. We will definitely help you with this issue. Just a few question first to understand the issue better;

• What is the make and model of the touchpad?
• When did this issue with touchpad?
• Did you make any recent hardware or software changes to your computer?

From what you have mentioned, I would suggest you to try these steps to see if it resolves the issue

Method 1: Troubleshoot

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your touch screen. Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key +X, select Control panel
• Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
• Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter

Method 2: Compatibility mode

If updating the driver didn’t help, then I would suggest you download the Windows 7 touch screen display driver and install it in Windows 7 compatibility mode and check if it works. Refer to these steps:

• Right click the driver installation file and select Properties then tap or click the Compatibility tab.
• Place a check in the Run this program in compatibility mode.
• Tap or click the drop down box and select Windows 7, then tap or click OK.
• Try installing the driver and check.
