Windows 10: Cursor loses grip on docs & files

For several months I’ve had a problem on my laptop: when I hold the cursor on the top bar of a document or web browser to move it or change its shape, the cursor seems to slip and the object stops moving or suddenly expands to full screen. Sometimes the cursor grip fails to move it at all. Evidently the source of the glitch is not MS Word since it also happens not only with browsers but other apps, notably my photo imaging software, making it dysfunctional. When I realized the problem is growing progressively worse, I thought it might be a glitch on my computer, but when I booted up my backup

Thank you both for your prompt replies, I tried all steps listed, some I had tries previously but I still tried them again, but still no cursor.

Do you have any other suggestions?

 

cursor jumps to bottom of file list when opening docs, etc

This is a very annoying problem that I've had for a long time. I navigate using File Explorer very often and this seems to have gotten worse recently. When I go to Docs and then open a folder, I don't always watch the screen as I type. I then look up and find the cursor has dropped to the bottom of the docs list of files. I have hundreds, maybe thousands of folders, and when I am taken to the folders starting with Z, I have to stop what I was doing, find my way back to where I had intended to go initially. It disrupts my line of thought and I must get started again and find where I was.

Please, tell me how to fix this!

 

Unable Search for .odt (LibreOffice Docs) file formats using File Contents.

Hello,

I just want to let you know that the search still does not work.

I have also tried the File Explore by using a keyword, ".odt: keyword."

The result shows only .odt doc files with names which include the keyword.

No .odt doc files which contain the keyword in the body.

As mentioned in the original post, I have done everything that was suggested including:

1. Run the DISM Tool.
2. Run the System File Checker utility.

I hope that someone knows how to resolve the issue.
