  1. Custom date format not showing up on Taskbar

I use a custom date and time for my taskbar and noticed recently the date disappears randomly but leaves the time. The display scaling is at 100%. I use an external monitor in addition to my PC, which I mark as "Make this my main display" in Display settings. Anyone know how to keep the date from disapearring? 1. What I want/is normal2. Current/not what I want3. My custom date format

  2. How to show the Long Date in the taskbar instead of the Short Date? [Windows 11]

Thank you very much for reaching out! As an Independent Advisor and fellow Microsoft user, I'm more than happy to assist you.

You will need to make some changes in the registry. Unfortunately, Windows 11 does not provide a direct option to show the long date format in the taskbar through the standard settings interface. However, you can achieve this by editing the registry. Here are the steps to do so:

    1. Open Registry Editor:
      • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.
      • Type regedit and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
    2. Navigate to the Date and Time Settings:
      • In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following path:

    3. Modify the Date Format:
      • Look for the sShortDate and sLongDate string values.
      • Double-click on sLongDate and set it to your desired format. For example, to show the full day name, month, day, and year, you can set it to:

      • Ensure that sShortDate remains unchanged to avoid affecting your work applications.
    4. Apply the Changes:
      • Close the Registry Editor.
      • Restart your computer to apply the changes.

If you encounter any issues or need further assistance, please feel free to reach out. I'm here to help

  3. Taskbar clock no longer shows the date, just the time

I booted up my computer today, and noticed that the taskbar clock was only showing the time, not the date and time like it used to.

I want the weekday to show in the taskbar clock, so I've had this custom short date format since the beginning: "ddd d.M.yyyy".

I started to investigate, and apparently Windows has all of a sudden decided that it no longer wants to display this custom date format I have set up. Apparently it now thinks it's too long. If I remove the weekday ("ddd") from the date format, it does displays
the date along with the time.

How can this be fixed so that I can see the weekday too?

Custom date format not showing up on Taskbar

    Date on Taskbar

    Thanks for the reply.

The date/time settings, as well as taskbar lock settings are correct.

I seem to remember adjusting the registry quite awhile back so that the clock would show seconds. And the date is already in long format. The longest format, actually.

I can't try the other suggestions at the moment as the date is appearing just fine for the moment. But like I said, it comes and goes.
