Windows 10: Custom Edge taskbar icon keeps reverting back to original

I have custom whiteout taskbar icons made to keep the entire taskbar a nice black-and-white color. I've noticed my Microsoft Edge custom icon keeps reverting every time my laptop powers down and boots up. Anybody experience similar problems? Are there any solutions to this problem?I'm using an OMEN 15 by HP laptop with Windows 10 installed, for the small chance that this information helps.Edit: I forgot to mention that I can't change the icon in the first place without unpinning Edge while it's open, and then pinning it again once I fix the icon.

System Icons on taskbar

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Communities.

Are you referring to the clock system icon on the taskbar?

If so, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

• 
  Click on the search bar on the taskbar.
  
• 
  Type system icons.
  
• 
  Under Turn System Icons ON or OFF, turn On the Clock and check with the issue.

The problem is after each restart Edge is back on the taskbar.

 

Can't change icon for edge on taskbar

This is not straightforward and would require you to change a set of icons as a resource in the Windowsapps folder.

This has been asked before (for old Edge and more recently) and I think I saw someone suggest how it could be done.
