Windows 10: Custom File Thumbnails or Preview for Files?

Hi all,I was wondering if there was any way to enable file previews for PDFs or add custom thumbnails as I have a lot of PDFs and it's impossible to differentiate them without looking at the file names themselves. File names are useful obviously, but it'd be incredibly easier if I was able to just glance at the file thumbnail instead of having to look through the file names just like how image files display their preview in File Explorer.For example, instead of this:I'd like them to look like this:Any help with this would be really appreciated, if there's no way to do this using Windows itse

Thumbnail preview for custom file extension with known format

I have a file named test.png. Windows 10 shows a thumbnail preview in file explorer just fine.

I'd like to rename it to test.abc and have the thumbnail preview still work.

Following forcing thumbnail preview for custom file format (which was for Win 7) hasn't worked. I get a default thumbnail.

Copying the registry entry for .png and editing in the different extension hasn't worked. Again, default thumbnail.

Is something different in windows 10? Some additional step I'm missing? Something I don't understand?

Preview and Thumbnails of PDF files can be disabled on your PC . . .

I suggest that you follow steps below to enable this feature

Start Adobe Reader

Tap on Edit in the menu bar and select Preferences

Under Categories highlight General

Put the checkmark next to the box Enable PDF thumbnail previews in Windows Explorer

"This file can't be previewed" problem in explorer

• Since when have you been experiencing this issue?
• Were there any changes on your PC before this happened like software or updates installed?

For initial troubleshooting, we suggest that you follow the steps listed below:

• Open File Explorer.
• Access this link
  
  C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer
• Delete all the files.
• After deleting the files kindly try and see if there's a thumbnail preview of your files.
